Crocmedia takes 25% share of Melbourne United

I was very excited to hear this... until I read that CM is fully owned by an ASX listed company.

I suppose extra media presence that will result is a great thing.

Thoughts?

Interesting to note that LK still has a 25% share in United. I thought he was to divest himself of anything to do with United in terms of ownership?
"The Crocmedia chief executive will own 25 per cent of the NBL heavyweight, alongside majority shareholder Larry Kestelman, who also holds a quarter of the franchise."

He can't sell off the remaining 25% unless there’s a buyer that he’s happy with.

People criticise the amount of money he’s putting in as unsustainable, when really he seems to be doing a good job of building value and selling off his various investments. Looks like another step in the right direction..

Good point LV.
No idea who has the other 50%. Probably LK under a shell corp.

Probably Michael Slepoy, director at the club and had ownership of Dodo with LK.

LK will find someone he's happy with and sell off the remaining 25%. I'm sure if he was in the position to sell the rest of it he would have but people like trying to find issues where there aren't any. He's doing precisely what he said he'd do.

Michael Slepoy the other 50% obviously. Not sure why that is a question.

It's a question because effectively LK and Slepoy are best buddies.
LK was supposed to divest himself of any ownership control over United.
So now he's only effectively got a 75% ownership interest in United.
Hardly kosher as the NBL's owner.

Slepoy who I think was LK's business partner at Dodo owns the other half of the team. It's irrelevant if he and LK are good friends, the reality is LK now only owns 25% of the team.

I like it. LK getting new investors into the league. A publicly listed sports media company at that. Would prefer LK stake to be reduced further but let's take it one step at a time.

The Footy show was stuffed long before Hutchy got there and his 1 season tenure was it. Hardly his fault at all.

Second post:

"alongside majority shareholder Larry Kestelman, who also holds a quarter of the franchise."

Who wrote that? It looks like a press clipping.

If LK owns a quarter, he can't be a majority shareholder by definition. Maybe they meant major shareholder.

Personally I don’t have a problem with LK owning holdings in multiple franchises, but it’s preferable that he doesn’t hold controlling interests.

They kept saying that, they also kept saying he was the sole shareholder but then sold a 25% stake and keeps a 25% stake.

MAKES ZERO SENSE

Gee, of course no one who owns anything is allowed to be friends with anyone else who owns anything. Let's have a massive fucking whinge about nothing.

Craig Hutchison (Hutchy) is the CEO/owner of Croc Media and Radio Station 1116 (SEN) in Melbourne. His company bid for and won the radio broadcasting for the last round of AFL media rights.

I think people need to get over their footy phobia.

Any publicity that Croc Media can generate will be a good thing for the NBL.

"Why is everyone in this thread so negative about him?"

Because he's a self-promoting Twat.

He's like Eddy McGuire, but without the talent, charisma, or good-looks.

This move will be about nothing but Hutchison stroking his ego.

On the plus side, this will provide the perfect opportunity for a 2nd Melbourne team.

Hutchy was a footy journo for channel 7 for a decade or so then moved to channel 9 and became a useless host of Footy classified where he basically claims that teams should get rid of their best players whilst their currency is at their highest and get in younger talent... would be interesting if he thinks the same for basketball with his hatred of anyone over 30 on AFL lists...will be interesting times ahead and good luck to him.

Lol @ like Eddie without the charisma, charm or good looks... that was a very short list of things that Eddie has over him

Phobia - an extreme or irrational fear of or aversion to something.

Footy Phobia - As you don't get it, I'll explain.

There are a number of people who post on this site that have a fear/dislike of anything remotely close to Australian Rules Football (aka AFL).

Basketballers crossing to the AFL (Hugh Greenwood, Tom Fullarton, Corey Maynard, etc, etc), AFL clubs joining/buying into NBL teams, etc.

As Croc Media & 'Hutchy' are involved with the AFL - some posters above are once again exhibiting footy phobia with the MU 25% acquisition.

Do you get it now?

No, they aren't.

I merely asked who "Hutchy" because I don't follow Aussie Rules. Then you reply with phobia blablabla.
