On paper you would think that Perth should cream Cairns and then enjoy a day on the reef on Sunday.

Massive danger game for the floppy cats. They are down 3 and that hasn't stopped them in the last few games, but Cairns are due. It's not like they are playing really, really bad basketball, they are just playing really bad basketball. Trimble is leading the league in scoring, but who is there to help?

Cairns are the lowest ranked team offensively (85.7 ppg) and that is because they are the lowest ranked shooting % team. Turnovers, yeah, worst at that too, assists #7, but the rest of the teams stats, they are mid pack.

I don't think they are disgracing themselves, they just don't know how to hook up with the pretty girl on the last dance of the night. They are left to go home by themselves.

When a team is putting up rubbish shots, it is a spiral of doom. They lose their confidence and have missed the shot before they even start dribbling. That's the time they need leadership to slow the game down and make sure the shot on goal that possession counts.

In NBL the average FG shots is 72.85 per game (yeah, I'm the 0.85...) and FTA is 20.3. You move your FG% up 3%, that's an extra 4.5 ppg FG and 0.6 FT. It adds 5 ppg.

Add 5 ppg to Cairns and they are in the top 4.

Just another example of how awful the commentators are. Both sides $2.00 on Betfair.

Just watched game what a crazy end to regulation.
Cotton nearly ruined the game for Perth.
Would be satisfied with 1-1 split against NZ next weekend and stay top of the ladder.

Its not a bitch, didn't see it live myself, but its a really bad miss, it's a fact, it was blatant, it happened. Took a shot a united actually in relation to their asking for the game because of a bad call...

I'm liking that Hire is getting back on the boards, he has really stepped up in the absence of the 3 starters.

How much longer can our luck hold out, without some backup. Lucky Jervis lasted as long as he did, cos all it will take is an early foul-out, or an in-game injury, and we'll be stuffed.

You have to give full credit to a guy that was prepared to come across and start on the bench.

- Cotton fouls a three-point shooter up four

Easily the stupidest 30 seconds of basketball I've ever seen.

Trimble deliberately fouls with about a second to go in the first quarter with his team in the bonus. I think that was the dumbest play of the night, even though there was stiff competition and LV would tell you the resulting point wasn't worth very much ;-).

The foul with 23 seconds to go was planned in a timeout, it didn't happen in the heat of the moment. Easy choice for dumbest play.

More a strategic decision than a dumb play. It's something you see in Europe, they'll foul at some strange times because they want the ball in their hands to control the clock late in games. I don't have a problem with that decision, even though it's not what I would do, but fouling Cotton wasn't the best idea.

Would be interested to speak to both coaches around their strategy in that situation though, possibly some confusion around the new rules? You wouldn't think so but two bits of interesting strategy if they knew.

Absolutely no idea why certain people seem to care so much about uniform colours. same stupid BS comments every year:
1. team x looks crap in white
2. what's with these shitty uniforms this year?
3. why doesnt the league care about 'presentation'

5. sponsor panels are too big/small/badly placed

But I do care about how ugly the uniform is - the home one anyway, since that's the one I'd potentially buy unless it is too ugly (which in recent seasons, Perth's has been IMO). Could hardly care less about the away white though.

What about the Tech foul on Jervis that fouled him out? You can't tell me that was any where near being a foul. So there were dodgey calls on both sides. Its easy to be one eyed when your team is playing. It appeared to me that Perth were getting the raw end of the calls... but I know it probably wasn't the case.
