Forgot to mention that Perth vs Adelaide is the TV game.
There is nothing listed as being live streamed.

I was going to make a comment about a heap less injuries this season than during last season's ridiculous schedule but I won't. I guess too late regards Sydney's fortunes, though.

Spirit leading the Caps 47-38 at half time.
Seems poised for yet another team to take Bendigo to OT and inflict a painful defeat.

Three Bendigo starters fouled out and a I believe a couple of their player on the floor right now paid to get in before being asked if they want a game.

Another cruel loss for Bendigo! Wehrung had 24 in the first half, finished with 30.

Geez poor Bendigo how'd they lose yet again. All that OT hoodoo, will it carry over next season? If only Wehrung could continue her hot hand from first half. Went ice cold after that. Still, pushed Canberra to get big games from their stars just before finals. Rivals will like that.

Maddie Garrick getting into the Lifeline spirit, knocking down 6 threes in the win. Dandenong fought hard but got $0 donated to the cause.

Thought Laney hit a 3? Well looked like at the game.

Looked like a bit of a disconnect between the Rangers coach and the players? The Rangers have a good squad but can't get it done for some reason.

Strange that Pederson was retiring, and she gets taken out with 50 sec to go, when the game was over. Surely you leave a retiring star in the game? or sub her out during play so the crowd can cheer her off? Not taken out in a time-out

Probably another game of not running the bench.

How does Andy Stewart keep his job? Biggest budget, best facilities and all the support you'd need and still keeps snatching defeats from the jaws of victory. A really good group of players, but they had a quarter and a half of no offence. All iso stuff continually broken up with help defense and no plan B. And then there's the defense...

Unfortunately for Ash Grant, Molloy recruited Magbegor and probably got told by Brondello to develop her for the Opals and he is developing Purcell for the NZ national team that he coaches. She should try to get back into the above mentioned big budget Lynx roster as Andy Stewart,if he keeps his job,has developrd her from junior ranks.

We are going to alot of players get booted next season, simply not wnbl level.

Definitely not the biggest budget.
Regardless, that was just a team that outplayed their superior opponent for 3 quarters and then stopped doing what got them the lead. The Lynx went totally passive. Should have won it comfortably.
Credit to Adelaide for fighting on of course. Us slowing down wouldn't have mattered so much if they hadn't started finding good scoring avenues.
I can't remember the last time I saw the Lynx get blocked that many times.

You get a lot of blocks when you are allowed to foul. It was the lack of intensity in the third that lost the lynx the game but the the lopsided foul count and lack of consistency in the calls didn't help. I have been frustrated with the refs all season, there is no such thing as a home call with copes and the diconzas even in the SBL, they go out of their way not to call for the home team.

You would assume right Luuuc. Interesting to see the parents of Megan McKay checking up on her after the game. They played together at St Marys.Wonder if any WNBL team is intersted in recruiting her after she finishes college this year.

Maybe 2 or 3 both ways that I thought maybe could have been called differently, but overall I though the lopsided foul count mostly reflected the type of offence both teams were playing rather than any type of bias. Pulling up for jump shots doesn't buy a lot of fouls, and neither does having your layups swatted into next week. Using that as an excuse is weak sauce IMO.

Mckays game won't transfer to wnbl well imo. Maybe a DP for Perth.

Smith, Froling and Mangakahia(if leaves early) may make a first year impact like a Aokuso, Magbegor or Rocci.

DPs or 12th option deep off the bench on some teams....
Maley -
Woods -
Brewster -
Dennis -
Nakkasoglu -
West -
O'Neill -

Fair enough. I reckon he's pretty good.

And if Smith decides to play WNBL she'll be a meaningful contributor straight away, unlike the 3 mentioned, who had very little impact in their rookie seasons. She's already good, and improving by the year.

It was interesting during the telecast tonight that Jenny Screen was mentioning the amount of Aussie naturalised American players in WNBL teams and the need for the teams to develop their own Aussie players like the women mentioned in the above posts.

Cross out the L & put in A as far as Alana Smith is concerned.Brondello would swoop on her as soon as she finishes at Stanford.

I don't think naturalised players are here in problematic quantities just yet. They raise the standard of the league and there are still plenty of spots for aussies. In Perth's case having Steindl & Schwagmeyer means we can have a competitive team at a more affordable price, since relocating a couple of extra Opals squad-calibre players over to Perth would not be cheap.
Unfortunately WA just doesn't produce many top players for some reason. Men or women. (and then historically when one does come along we have stuffed it up and lost them, like with Garbin, and before her Cox, which I hope would no longer happen under the Lynx regime).

Story of rangers life the last few years
Look at Pizzey and Rowe and even Antoniado who gave this season a miss sat at the end of That rangers bench for years, add to that Roberts this year and the rest of roster who were not in the rotation of the usual 6 or 7 players, and you will get a group of very “disconnected” players by seasons end

Quite a few teams are the same though, they simply don't develop their bench players, but Canberra are a great example of why you should
Their current bench were starters for the first half of the season, sure it was due to his better players being injured or on reduced minutes due to recovery fitness, but look at them now,, they run so deep and what experience his bench now carry

Coaches like Anderson and Molloy could do with taking a leaf out of his book IMO

Doubt though you will see Anderson back at Rangers again or even WNBL

You're (Perth) probably better off having a crack at Canberra anyway. The lackadaisical way they seemingly played the final two rounds might work against them.

... except for the point that get's forgotten a lot (such as the TV coverage totally missed it when talking up what they are playing for) that 3 v 4 met in the NBL final series a couple of seasons ago and didn't it also come perilously close or something to happening in WNBL recently?

Well last season 1st place (Perth) got swept by 4th, but largely due to the league completely screwing us over by making us play in Canberra on a Friday, then in Townsville on the Sunday to end the regular season, and then rewarding us for top spot by making us travel to Melbourne on the Wednesday for the first semi final, followed by the terrific "home court advantage" of flying back for game 2 in Perth 2 nights later.

No excuses this year with a perfectly even schedule in the final round, and a good break before the first playoff game.

So by my count, the multiple Team of the Week members this season were
Griffin 11
Taylor 6
Allen, Coffey 5
Cole, Tobin, Batkovic 4
McPhee, Nurse 3
Snell, Talbot, Nicholson, Seekamp, Mitchell, George 2

Yeah it's kinda apparent who should be the MVP based on that. Allen second, Taylor third. Coffey and Cole to round out TOTY, unless they homer it and put Suzy in instead of Coffey.
