Isn't this an off-season topic? But hey I'm in, you would have to include George Mikan in the centres.

Firstly, Alex English never played shooting guard. He was a small forward with Denver and later in his career, Dallas.

Centres: Agree with you, but Mikan for Olajuwon. O'Neal, Mikan, Abdul-Jabbar, Russell, Chamberlain.

Power Forward: Agree. Malone (Karl, not Jeff!), Barkley, McHale, Duncan and Pettit.

Small Forward: Agree. Barry, Bird, Erving, Havlicek, Baylor. It still peeves me though that Dominique wasn't in the "Top 50".

Off Guard: Drexler's a SG, not a SF. Kersey was their SF. And I don't think of Iverson/Robertson as a SG, but more a PG. So, I go for Jordan, Drexler, Bryant, Monroe and West.

Point Guard: Magic, Frazier, Stockton, Robertson, Cousy. Regardless of what anyone says about the Cooz - I just love the Cooz.

there was a few players who by nature are difficult to position. for example played time at both 3 and 2 (alex english) so there was a few players i wanted to put in and by position couldnt fit in. Iverson, robertson and jerry west all spent considerable time at the 2, its only really the last season AI was a proper Pg, think 2000 he was a genuine 2.

7 times all nba defensive team

Nowitzki.....c'mon, what's he done to even rate a mention on this thread.

Great players, but he's done jack****. If this thread was greatest Euro players in play in the NBA by position he'd get a mention....

Hard to compare players from different times, a powerforward 10 years ago is different to a powerforward today.

Rodman..... honourable mention and that's about all.

C: Sabonis
PF: Nowitzki
SF: Kukoc
SG: Petro (best ever Euro!!!)
PG: Manu (only other PG I can think of is Jasikevicius, and he hasn't played yet, and Parker, yuck!!!)

honourable mention: Manu, Big Z, Vlade, AK47, Stojakovic, Jasikevicius, Parker (to fill out the squad)

If anyone is looking for ridiculous stats have a look at the Big O..

Career Average:
25.7 PPG, 9.5 APG, 7.5 RPB.

His second year in the league (1961-62), he average 30.8 points, 12.5 rebounds, and 11.4 assists per game.......insane!!!!

What about Detlef Schrempf ? If you are going to mention AK47 - who is OK, you would have to mention Detlef. He paved the way for a lot of mobile, rebounding forwards.

SF - Detlef honourable mention !!

I always love the NBL version of these lists.

PG - Cal Bruton, Phil Smyth, D-Mac
SG - Gaze, Heal, Maher, Mee, Smith, Copeland
SF - Rose, Catalini, ??
PF - Vlahov, Fisher, Davis, D-McLain
C - Dozier, Bradtke, Borner,

The D-Train would be a SF, certainly not PF.

Bruce Bolden would rate a mention for PFs, surely?

And I think Derek Rucker & Ricky Grace deserve a mention for the PG position.

Skyhook, your correct, my bad I forgot all about Detlef.... Definately an honourable mention.

Marciulionus was a pioneer for all Euro's (along with Petro), but I would hardly rate him up there with the best.

Anon, your correct, he is from Argentina, hence he can't be classed as a Euro. Argentina play in the FIBA Americas Championship.

Ok, my PG then reverts to Jasikevicius backed up by Parker.

TR also on the Big O remember that in his first four years he basically could have averaged a triple double in all of em

also note that the Big O won the Rookie of the Year and MVP in his first year but did not get the MVP in his second year the year when he averaged the triple double

Also consider the Big O's time, he was up against two of the best centres the court has seen in Bill Russell and Wilt, he schooled Cousy who is one of the best PG to ever get around, and also Jerry West, Elgin Baylor, Willis Reed and John Havlicek.

No one in todays game comes close to matching the all-round game of the Big O. Maybe Lebron at a push if I had to mention anyone. Only other player I can think off is Magic.
