Time For Yao to Step Up

I think it's time for Yao Ming to step up - with T-Mac missing he needs to be doing more. Today against the Mavs he scored 20 BUT only got 6 rebounds, c'mon the guy is 7ft6" and can only get 6 rebounds? The other night T-Mac had 13 with a sore back.

Yao is averaging 19 points and 9 rebounds. He should be averaging at least a double double, and more than 1.9 blocks IMO.

Can the Rockets pull themselves out of this slump?

Just food for thought

Tend to agree, but it's pretty hard going when your starting line up vs Dallas consists of:

Head
Wesley
Howard
Bowen
Ming

That's probably the worst starting line up in the league...

Ever noticed that Yao never explodes for a huge game, he constantly puts up 18-19 points a game and about 8-10 boards. His highest points tally this season is 24, and rebounding is 14. He never has the monster game that when you look a the boxscores you say 'wow'.

How about some help for Yao. I thought Dereck Anderson would come in and put up 17-18ppg and Stromile Swift to start ahead of the hapless Juwan Howard and grab 10rpg. But both of those guys have been disappointing.

And the are the main reasons people thought would push Houston to the top of the pile this season. With those two guys under performing, and no supporting cast around Yao and McGrady, this team is only a first round knock off at best.

Bizzy you're only reading the box score right?

Download the games and give them a watch. He just needs some team-mates who can hit an outside jumper.

How much do you want him to put up while being tripled team?

I noticed some nteresting stuff from today's Phoenix vs Houston matchup. 6'8", 215lb Boris Diaw started at centre for the Suns against the 7'5", 296lb Yao. Diaw scored 17 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, gave out 6 assists and had 2 steals and 2 blocks. Yao only managed 8 points, 8 boards, 1 assist and 1 steal against his much smaller opponent. Obviously the Suns wouldn't have had Diaw on Yao the whole time, but you'd assume Yao would have done better than that surely. Or maybe Diaw is better than everyone thinks.

as good as boris is, yao just flatout stinks. the guy can touch the ring by just putting his arms up yet still hasnt become the sort of player who scares guys. and even if diaw wasnt on him the whole game, phoenix dont have legit centre, or even a seven footer.
