Pioneers recruits

The Pioneers have recruited Daniel Wilson from the Forestville Eagles for next season to replace Jason Williams as back up point guard.
Also Jamie Holmes has re-signed for another year, good to see the big fella is coming back for another year!
Good luck to the both of them.

Also seen having tea with members of the Pioneers board were former players Damien Smith and Damian Anderson. Is it possible that they could be back for the Pioneers in the near future???????????

Don't know where you get your info, Panther but you're up to date! The paper today had Bendigo throwing big bucks at "the other J.Holmes".

Daniel Wilson? Send Cam Wood down here and make it really interesting!

Mosses, What is so interesting about Cam Wood that you would like to see him in the SE.
Anon, you are showing your ignorance of our ABA competition if you do not know Dan Wilson...then again, i am sure he has never heard of you either....

Jamie, has re-signed with Pioneers - that is a fact.

Border Watch ran an old (at leat a week) story from Bendigo Advertiser the day before he did sign eventually with Pioneers - Once again first with the news Border Watch!

Bendigo chased him big time, but Pioneers have done a great job in getting him back for the coming season.

Smithy and Moose are just back here visiting friends for New Year/Xmas etc. Nothing in it at all.

Some of you guys do get a bit carried away!

Anon, you seriously have no idea what so ever do you? You will find that Jamie Holmes has signed as most people on here have confirmed.
Damian Anderson never applied for the coaching job you moron and neither him nor Damien Smith are coming back, they are back for Flashes (Kym Hammond) wedding.

Well done Anon! You are obviously from Adelaide as you know nothing about the goings on in Mount Gambier.
Also Flash doesnt get married til late January?
They were here for the bucks show. Also here were DK Lillee, Swervin Mervin, Deek, Boonie, Pat Cash, Cat Pash, MJ, John McEnroe, Michael Long and everyone would have seen way too much of the great man himself - Warrick Capper!

Well done to to the Border Watch on a great article regarding Jamie Holmes return to Mount Gambier. It was a big decision for all concerned, and a kick in the pants to "MONEY RULES SPORT".... PLEASE, every get behind the team and club this year and show your support. Everyone involved has put in a lot of hard work so far, and as volunteers all should be supported.

Why so negative? Any reason for you obvious dislike? Seems the club is quite happy to have him signed up.

The People that have recruited him won a national ABA Championship in 2003 - I think they might know what they are doing. Great to see a player that wants to further his career. Lets give him a go and see what happens.
Great post by Mustard, agree totally.

Have to agree with that last post, though Goorj isn't ace at all. Dan Wilson will only improve playing against NBL-quality opposition and it'd be good to see more Adelaide-based ABL players give the SEABL a go.

Exactly Moses - both Joyce and The Goorj are definately not ace!

Moses, although your right and i've been saying it for years that the SEABL is better than the Central Conference, we don't really want our better players going over there to play. What we need to do is start enticing SEABL players to come over to SA and play. Although it's a good theory in practice, I think the salary cap has to go or be extended. Clubs need to start taking some initiative and start marketing themselves a lot better to increase income. Although I hate to say it, I liked the fact that teams like Forestville can buy big name players of NBL quality, it draws in crowds and it increases the profile of basketball in SA.
We as a state need to start to work together to get back to the glory days when most clubs had sixers players, most clubs had 2 imports and SA clubs would easily be able to compete with the Vics and other states in a National finals series!

Panther what your saying is absoulutley correct having played in both conferences i must say the gap between them is widening this may be due to a number of factors money tends to be the major one the players/clubs in the south league tend to have more money and are run more like business than clubs. were as in Adelaide your only really drawing on players and resources from within adelaide.

the solution is not an easy one maybe ideas like BASA subsidising clubs who sign interstate Australian players might be worth looking into. You are right though something has to be done to make S.A B/ball a premier league instead of a local comp.
