Bogut fourth in Jan 9 Rookie Rankings

NBA.com has its Rookie Rankings online, and of course Andrew Bogut fares pretty well.

Here's their top ten: CP3, Frye, the Foetus, Bogut, Deron Williams, Sarunas, Calderon, Salim Stoudamire, Diogu, Nate Robinson. Under "noteworthy" come Granger from IND, Lee from the Knicks and Petro from the Sonics.

Bogut's statline includes the best rebound and block counts of that group, and he goes pretty close in FG% too.

Chris Paul has injured his thumb and will miss about two weeks of action -- if the injury hangs around, it could certainly throw a spanner into the ROTY works.

Bogut's full statline: 27.6 MPG, 8.9 PPG, 7.5 RPG, 2.1 APG. 0.77 SPG, 0.94 BPG, 53.1% from the field and a dodgy 59.1% from the stripe.

Anyone else feel that Bogut would put up numbers to rival Frye and Villanueva if the Bucks made more use of him?

Yes Isaac i agree with that . Bogut takes good shots when he gets the ball , but with great shooters (who hog it) like Redd and Simmons, he doesnt get enough offence run through him IMO.
TJ Ford has had a great start to the season and is one of the best penetrators in the game right now , but he doesnt see Bogut enough when help falls off him .
The other reason Boguts numbers are a little down is because he is happy to do the passing and screening that a lot of C/PF are too lazy to do at the top of the key .
If he could become a 20 , 10 player a night over the next 2-3 yrs the Bucks will have gotten good value from him, although you could say the same if he was a 10,20 player too.

If Stotts had any idea about running a post offence then Bogut's number would be much better. The bottom line is that when he gets touches he performs.

As Skyhook stated, he's competing with Redd, Mo, TJ, Simmons and Magliore to get shots. Mind you, I guess it would be wrong if your $90 million dollar man wasn't the focus of your entire offence, but Bogut deserves way more touches than he is currently getting.

So let me get this straight. The three rookies ahead of him in the standings are IN LOSING TEAMS?

hmm

So what if Bogut isn't posting numbers like Paul's. He's doing a lot more for the team than Paul (and most definitely Frye and Villineuva) is.

More for the team that Paul?????
Chris Paul has single handledly turned the worst roster in the NBA into a very competitive team. They did beat a full strength Miami by 20 points.

Bogut is the second best rookie behind Pual. When your a rookie on a team with, one of the best shooters in the league, one of the quickest, last years Most Improved player, a former All-star centre, and a deep 4/5 rotation, Bogut doing as weel as he is is a preety good accomplishment. He could score more points though, like when he is left open at the top, he normally hits when he takes them, but he just doesn't take it enough.

I hate to say it but Paul is a better rookie than Bogut. It remains to be seen whether he will become a better player in the end. True bogut shoud be used more. But with 3 pure scorers, redd, simmons and mo, its always going to be hard to get shots. For me its CP for rookie of the year, injury or no injury. He will be used more in seasons to come and im sure will become a star.

Id have to agree that Chris Paul is doing his thing... hes good, Bogut doesnt get enough minutes or enough of the ball... he still got nice rebounds.. his feild goal percentage good, hes top of the rookies for blocks, and his points per game is steadily rising. If you put CP or Frye in milwaukee would they come off the same as bogut all things considered? if Bogut went to NY would he be a leading scorer? all i can say is he is contributing very well to a winning playoff bound team, and hes tied for 3rd in assists for centers. Aussie Aussie Aussie!

They are pretty good stats considering he shares the workload with Magloire. He's doing fine and will play in the Rookie Challenge.

Seeming that he will(should) start at centre for the rooks, you would think they would him a touch almost every trip down the floor. So hopefully he and CP3 team up and win co-MVP, with Bogut swatting Howard and dunking on Okafor.
