Questionable Tactics

This is going to be a contraversial post, but here goes...

I would like to gain some insight into the minds of the Norwood Mens ABL coaching staff. In the last two weeks (at least that i am aware) they have begun using thuggery and physicallity to conquer the opposition.

I put it to the posters on this forum that these tactics are not in the spirit of the game and the onus is on referee's to stop warning players and start blowing the whistle.

I am all for a physical battle, but it must be in the spirit of the game. Make the rebounds a good contest, but elbows to the throat at half court off the ball are not acceptable. Set good picks, but dont condone holding of singlets of cutters and alike. If the board of Norwood want to continue to promote the game to their juniors, i would be giving Matt Dodgie-son the Gary Ayers treatment.

So with all DUE respect bluey. Have the flames won any games recently? Why would you question this. I have no time for Flames but you would have to question the fact that the issues you suggest have allowed wins. Perhaps webber taking NGs ankles (targetting his bad one) out from under him was good or perhaps it was not. But the resutls was only 25 pts and limited balance in 2nd half. Also where are the Flames imports? Woodville = import. Southern = import. Sturt = import. Eastern = import. Forestville = import x MILLION. Maybe this situation has something to do with Ayres situation or maybe it definately does not CHAMP.

An import is any current NBL player (non developmental) or forigner last time i checked. So the rest of your vision or any future visions past or presense really are non sensical.

Yes. I use jargon, import = restricted player but albeit you get my point. Pocadocts has come in from interstate.

Where is norwoods import, restricted players and / or interstate player. Winfield does not count.

How did will fosters trainings equate to court time. Sorry but maybe you are just upset because the flames play the way the game should be played which is obviously not the way either u or team play!

Er... to the person who is yet to post an identity, obviously you have been upset by this post. I agree with EVERYTHING Jirachi has said and am simply highlighting the fact that Norwood have used what i would call unsavoury tactics to upset the opposition in some games recently.
I will not go as far as to say they have won by playing dirty basketball, but what i am saying is, it is not out of the realms of possibility that other people see it that way.

As for you argument re: imports/restricted players, you would be kidding yourself if you think Norwood are short on talent. In my opinion they have as much talent as all of the top 6 teams, they have simply UNDERACHIEVED!

Good work Jirachi... poor form anonymous.

Meh, I very much doubt that the order to play rough has come from above, and I severely doubt that it is anything to do with a coaching issue, either.

Norwood have just played awful this year, remember Christian HAS been injured and he was their MVP last year and they have no legit 4 man after losing Thompson and Harris.

Just poor form. But hey, if playing physically is going to get you wins it gets you wins. It's up to the refs (Jirachi ;)) to set the tone for the game of what is and isn't allowed!

And trust me, none of it is flowing back to Norwood juniors. Some of the softest and nicest kids I've ever seen (and coached ;))!

I heard from 2 reliable sources that Toby Shaftner was benched at one point during the Norwood vs Southern game because he wasn't playing dirty enough.
Every team that has tried to beat up on Forestville has always come off second best.......good luck this week Norwood.

Heard the same story too. Heard other stories from people involved in the Norwood v Southern game about certain things that were going on off the ball.

I think it was put pretty well by Jirachi "IF the assumed tactics of late are taking place and are coming from the coaching staff then Norwood will gain very little as far as respect goes, even if they manage a couple of surprise wins."

Enough said really.
