Southern V West Women:

Well looks like the Southern women have done it again and make it 2-0 for a great start to the 2006 season. Beating West by 1 point in a heart renching OT battle.

With a fairly level start to the game, it was basket for basket as there was some hot shooting from the West guards. 3rd quarter wasn't so hot for the Tiger ladies and it took Cooper to fire up in the 4th to get them back on track from a 12 point defecit.

It then went into over time with little Coleman hitting some sweet, crucial shots for the Bearcats. However, the Tiger girls did not give up and came away with the W.

Good game by all, with (IMO) Cooper coming away with the MVP for the game. Damn that girl can play!!

Panther Lover, it was a good win, but it was only a week ago they were beaten by Norwood by 20, so don't get too carried away.

South played very well as a team & Scanlon was obvious a major part of the offence. The fact that all 11 players contributed while they were on the Court.

Sturt men beat Centrals by 20 with Darren Ng scoring 40. Sturt were without Oscar (Boomers camp), Centrals appear to have missed Jye. Dodman suited for the Sabres.

Sturt women won by 42 with Monique scoring 22 and grabbing 13 boards.

A few funny moments in the Mavs-Flames men's game. Bungey fouled out, but not before giving out a few dozen "f**ks!" along the way to the refs and the middle finger too. He gave one ref a bit of a spray as they left for the changerooms at the end as well. Good to see the guy is passionate about what's happening out there. As well as this, towards the end Madgen tried to draw a charge from Eley, wasn't successful, but then got back up and proceded to run at Eley and floor him. A scuffle went on afterward where Madgen grabbed someone by the throat and Campbell and Bungey got up from their seats on the bench ready for action, but it all eventually blew over and everyone shook hands in the end. A few cheap laughs from an otherwise disappointing outing for the Mavs.

North men went down 72 to 75 in a game with many lead changes. Slambour with two huge dunks, one a tip-dunk and one an alley on the break.

Don't know woman's score.

Yeah he did a nice alley dunk on the break, but it was off an appalling no-call hard foul on Matty Sutton who went flying on his ass. Referreing was a little inconsistent in parts last night.

frangers block on sutton was clean the only contact was frangers hand on the ball which put sutton on his arse
great effort from him to chase the loose ball to complete the alley to slambour

Good game , some great defence, blocks which were not called.
Shooting % seemed a little low in a low score game but both teams look good this season.

Frangers block and then pass for the ally oop dunk was "Play of the Day"

Just read the west v southern box score:

31 West assists v 10 Southern assists. Was this the reason for the 30 point deficit? Can anyone who saw the game confirm?

Actually pickles, I beleive Southern won the shotting percentage and rebounding and still loss. Its still early but it seems one team is in early trouble. Snake will make a little difference but he needs to come in quickly.

Um, depends on 1 of 2 things:

1 - have you looked at the stats posted on Hoops or somewhere else?

2 - Do you know the higher the number next to the "%" symbol, the better the team shot.

Seriously, Hoops stats show that West beat Southern in every stat apart from foul shot %.
