Locked: Player Poaching

What do you do when you have kids playing at your Club whose dad coaches Division 1 at another Club and has actively poached your best Under 16 player?

Transfer request received today.

Is there anything in the BSA rules to stop this?

let em go

if a kid feels they will get a better go and wants to move let them

if they are prepared to walk after this sort of thing - they probably will go anywher anyway

wait until they discover that the same problems exist in most places

i suggest you find out and address why they left - if it was personal choice - you cant complain - if it was a coaching problem - look to change - if it was a straight poach - complain and make it big public news

karma - what goes around comes around

why did they not develop a div 2 player instead?

It was an outright poach and almost bordered on stalking!

that stinks - but look at how desperate the others were

kick their ass next time on court

put it up your sleve - complain through proper channels

and rememeber what sort of ethics they work by

I'd chat with your team and make sure everyone is good - otherwise they might just try it again

if the [player was a benchie and got offered a better go - can you blame them?

why is the dad coaching elsewhere and kids playing elsewhere???

sounds messy - but i know it happens

do not hold the kids back for your own goals

wait and see if the kids gets better

think outside the square

cant blame the kid for coming over to his dad - it would be what I would want - but it would be the kids choice

The Coaches kid still plays at Southern but the kid he poached was from Under 16's.

No benchie either as he made last 15 at State trials.

Wat a stupid topic, The kids wants to improve his basketball, and he is not going to get that at southern under the current rookie u16 div 1 coach.

If we put up a topic everytime some put in a transfer then this wold become a very boring site.

p.s player left sturt this week as well, gunna rite about that to????

Agreed. To anyone concerned by this particular instance, go and discuss it with the relevant parties. This stuff always ends up getting personal on the forum.
