NBL bits and pieces

The Razorbacks are trialling another "tall guy called Nick" -- this time it's Nick Horvath from Duke (ESPN profile).

His 2003/04 stats look a bit weak (1.9 PPG in 6.4 MPG) but I guess we'll see how he goes. He's 6'10" and 110+kg it seems. Looks like this could be the year of the white-dude import (Rychart with the Sixers, Brannen with the Bullets, Calvary with the Crocs, Redhage with the Breakers, Burgess with the Taipans; almost had Mueller again with the Hawks).

There's a rumour around that says that ex-Giant Adam Ballinger could be a Hawk this season with Wollongong having lost Mueller to injury for the year.

Oh, and some chap called Rashad Tucker has signed with the Wildcats:

Watched that Nick Horvath play in the Final Four series. he played a few minutes and whilst he did not score that many he certainly did his job on the floor. eg. rebounding and creating a presence.

Not looking fantastic for the Razorbacks. Simon Dwight is missing another pre-season game due to injury and Steve Markovic is staying home with a throat infection. Oh, and Luke McMillan is just returning from the joy that is conjunctivitis.

Hawks have indeed signed Adam Ballinger as their second import after John Mueller was dropped due to a foot injury. Ballinger played previously for the Giants.

Last night, the Hawks played the Pigs... After one quarter, the Hawks were leading 34-6.
After three quarters, the score was 72-45 and the final scoreline was 89-74.

Info from people at the game suggests that the Hawks are going to struggle to defend inside in 2004/05, and that the Pigs didn't look flash without Dwight and McGregor either.

Hunter have signed two development players in Mat McGovern and Matt Cook. Cook has previously played with the Razorbacks.

Why don'tthe sixers do the same thing???
They are the only team in the league who haven't signed anyone under the age of 21. Give the young guys a chance. Although they have requested Gerlach, Sutton and Benson to stay ionthe squad how are they meant to work and study if they are training with the sixers everyday aswell as the Academy??? whats going on

Rumour just in is that the Kings might cut their import Mobley after poor performances in the pre-season games.

I'd just like to remind Deano before he starts talking SAHFBL trash that I have first option to pick whoever Goorjian replaces.

I'm still hoping Dr Adrian has realised he's down an import, and picks one up! Anyone will do. What's Jeff Brown up to these days?!

I have about 6 active & fit players... fantastic.

"The Pirates have been fielding submissions from players and their managers since and are hopefull of getting a new pirate on board soon, before the regular season commences."

""We are in the hunt for a 6'5"- 6'7" swing man who can drive to the basket and also score from the perimeter. He must be a real link man between our small guards and big forwards. Of course being a good defender is a requirement of all our players, and he will be no exception.""

He must also not suffer from heart palpitations...

Taipans vs Tigers in a practice match yesterday. Taipans won it 117-115. Gaze said afterwards that he thinks the Taipans are a genuine contender for the championship.
