Men:

Forestville Eagles completed the weekend with its undefeated record intact after decisive wins against Woodville Warriors and Central Districts Lions. They shot 47.2% and 45.6% from the field in their two games whilst defensively maintaining the pressure on both their opponents. The Lions were kept to the lowest score of the season. The rotation of the Eagles' guards maintained pressure both offensively and defensively, with impressive statistics for the weekend. Brad Sullivan (44 points at 59%), Matt Gange (40 points at 52%), Brenton Campbell (30 points at 39%), Matt Sutton (30 points at 53%) and Scott Arnold (22 points at 36%).

North Adelaide Rockets were too strong for the Bearcats in a high scoring game. Three point shooting was a feature of the game with 8 and 9 put in by the teams respectively. Michael Zorich (20 points at 64%, 7 assists, 6 rebounds and 4 steals), Nick Hambour (17 points, 13 rebounds, and 7 assists) had great support from the rest of their team. Chris Molitor played his strongest game for the Bearcats with 20 points at 60% with 11 rebounds.

After an even first half South Adelaide Panthers dominated the rest of the game, out-rebounding the Southern Tigers and shooting 52.3% in the last two quarters. Damien Scanlon (26 points at 40%, 8 rebounds and 5 steals) and Tristan Braithwaite (26 points at 50%, 3 rebounds and 3 steals) were game-high scorers for their teams. Tom McKenzie shot a careerhigh 20 points at 67% for the Panthers.

Eastern Mavericks, with Jacob Holmes playing his first game were too strong for the Lions, dominating the rebounds and putting up a season-high 103 shots. Brad Hill (22 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists), Ben Madgen (23 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals), Brad Bungey (14 points, 16 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 blocks), Nick Campbell (10 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists) and jacob Holmes (16 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 blocks) had strong backup from the rest of the team.

Sturt Sabres established control over their game against Norwood Flames in an aggressive opening term. Darren Ng shot a roundhigh 44 points at 57% with 3 assists and 4 steals including six 3-pointers. Austin Smylie continued his recent good form with 29 points at 61% with 12 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals. Keith Krause was Norwood's dominant player with 21 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists while Andrew Webber contributed a round-high 10 assists.


Women:

Eastern Mavericks took until the third quarter to get control of their game against the Lions. Over half of the Lions' score came from its eleven 3-pointers. Amanda Williams (19 points) hit the Mavericks only three-pointer late in the game at a time when the Lions were having a resurgence. The win put the Mavericks back in a position of being only one win out of the top five positions.

Forestville Eagles had two strong wins over Woodville Warriors and the Central Districts Lions causing the bottom two teams to experience their worst results this season. Narelle Lindsay had two great games for the Eagles, accumulating 40 points 53%, 10 rebounds, 18 steals and 9 assists. Dee Ranford dished out 19 assists for the weekend, 11 in the game against the Lions. Emily Wilkin is showing considerable development for the Lions.

In the tightest game for the round, West Adelaide Bearcats outplayed the Rockets in a dominant final term. The Bearcats shot 49.1% from the field in comparison to North's 33.8%. West had an edge on the boards which counteracted North's 21 points outside the three-point arc. Sam Woosnam shot a game-high 18 points at 67% as well as taking 14 rebounds with 4 assists and 3 steals.

Sturt Sabres dominated the Flames in the first and third quarter to consolidate their position at the top of the ladder. They generally applied greater pressure on the ball and kept the Flames to only 4 points in the vital third quarter. Monique Bowley pulled down 18 rebounds to go with her 12 points, 4 blocks and 3 assists.

Southern Tigers won the battle of the two southern clubs with superior shooting and particularly in the first half where they scored at 55.9%. Olivia Warnes (18 points) played her best game against her old club while Nerrida Cooper (17 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists) and Tracey Beatty (12 points, 14 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 blocks) provided inside targets. Jenene Browne maintained her shooting average for the Panthers with a game-high 24 points, together with 9 rebounds and 4 assists.

Its nice to see a female Centrals Junior getting a good comment in the writeups

"Emily Wilkin is showing considerable development for the Lions."

With Centrals under 18's girls only playing division 2 you would think she is no chance at even being concidered for the State team yet she is playing so well at ABA Level. Is this a reason to look else where?
