Wheeler Watch - v. Diamond Valley

Wheeler scored 24 points on 72% shooting in a 111-93 win v. Diamond Valley last night.

He also grabbed 11 rebounds along with 2 blocks and 2 assists in his 41 minutes of court time.

That brings Wheeler's average to date in his 9 games played to 17ppg and 13rpg.

He is playing close to 40 minutes per game so good to know he must be in pretty good shape so far after his year long absence.

Who has been some of Brett direct opponents?

Great numbers and it's great for the Sixer that he is doing so well but putting it into a bit of perspective would also help to know who he is playing against, are they NBL quality players or quality ABA player.

No disrespect to some of the Sixer squad member and development players but they get fantastic numbers in the ABA and you would assume they are going to be very good NBL players but we all know that number sometime lie and the truth is not always as it seems with statistic.

I appreciate that the Victorian ABA is a higher standard than that of the South Australia ABA but it's still not NBL standard is it. Is Brett playing against centres of quality or is he getting his number against good ABA player that will never play at a higher level?

Thank you and 'Go Sixer'

The league Sandringham play in is reputed as a very "big" league. Some very good bigs, guys like Luke McMillan, Mike Spears, Graeme Anstey, Jason Eversteyn, Lester Strong (imp), David Donaldson - all of them have played NBL barring Strong and Anstey (although the latter has probably been used as NBL training fodder). DV who they played last night have two guys around 6'10' - Dizdarevic (spelling right I hope) and a guy called Darren Holness.

Possibly his best workout comes at training, the Sabres have three current NBL quality players in Wheeler, Timmons and Crosswell, and some former ones in Wickstrom, Lunardon and I think last year also had Mark Whitehead - not sure about this year.

He's getting a fair workout no question. Very few really quality NBL bigs play ABA anywhere in the off season although Toby Ronaldson is having a run in the SBL in WA for the second league running and obviously Reesy always played a lot.

The Sabres play Dandenong next weekend - Dandenong have four guys over 200cm according to the Big V website so interesting matchup there.

Also, as Stephon pointed out, the MPG could be the most important thing to watch for.

What's the chances of getting Timmons?

He would be an import would he?

Would he ba a minimum?

He used to average quite a few points. He could still average 8-10 points a game. Probably better than Smylie and MUCH better than Hambour.

why would you want an import on minimum.

seriously like why would you even know compare an import to Smylie and Hambour

and import is meant to be one of the more dominant players of the league not a benchie playing low minutes
