Strong performances in ABA over the weekend

If you didn't get to an ABA game this weekend, you missed out on some oustanding performances.

Damian Scanlon from South amassed 82.5 HSA in what might be a tough statline to beat - 51 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 7 steals.

Given two extra periods, Matt Alexander wasn't far off the pace scoring 26 points to go with 20 rebounds and 9 assists - a total of 70.5 HSA. That gave him second spot in the list of Top 50 Performances of 2006.

Amazingly, two more lines from the weekend broke the top ten. Danny Phillips grabbed #5 with 26/10/5, 4 blocks and 3 steals in that same double-OT game for 61 HSA, and Jacob Holmes had 60.5 against the Flames for #6: 22 points, 18 rebounds and 8 assists.

Best games for the women this round included Hannah Bowley (16 points, 10 boards, 4 steals - 40.5 HSA), Angela Marino (10 points, 7 assists and 6 steals in the same game against the Lions, giving her 36.5 HSA) and Kylie Newbold's 21 and 11 for 36 HSA.

Scanlon's 51 points set the new season high for 2006 and also eclipsed Jye Watson's 50 point best from 2005. Darren Ng racked up 37 points against Watson's Lions for fifth spot on that scoring list and a leading 28.2 PPG season average, along with 48.5% from the field, a league-leading 45.7% from the arc and 80% from the line (5th).
