Brad, that man did do a lot for basketball in this State; and a lot of people involved at that time would say most of it was bad.

Wonder what he's talking about? How to screw an organisation financially and also how to get rid of most of its players?

Dunlap made more of an effort to help SA coaches than any other sixer coach in recent memory.

His achievments at NCAA level in the States affirm his ability' as does his working with the USA junior teams.

I wish he was coming to Adelaide ...as usual we have been dudded.

I bet his time here as a developing coach has shaped his current style and we should embrace what he has learnt and have the opportunity to see what hew has done in the time since he left Adelaide.

dunlap was a great coach for the 18- 24 year old players development in the side but did not know how to manage or deal with the players who where older then that, hence why most of them pissed of to other teams,

Thomo,
Most of those players didn't piss off themselves to different teams, Dunlap pissed them off to different teams. Big difference!
And for all the posturing about what he did for the 18-24 year olds, also included in his purging of Rose, McKay, Ninnis, Simmons, Smyth etc. were Blakemore, Brenton, Scalzi and so on.
Also tried valiantly to get rid of Davis but the club wouldn't let him.
All this after being Grand Finalists in '94 and Semi Finalists in '95.

Didn't Dunlap coach a Division 3 college team before coming to the Sixers?

You can't have a college coach coaching men. They know how to coach boys who will eat s**t and tell the coach it's like icecream.

At NBL level, not a whole amount of actual coaching or teaching is required, it's more management, hence why in English Premier League, they're called, Managers.

Sure, they need strategy and basketball brain, but mostly it's ego management, people management and motivation skills.

Brad,
The coach is not always to blame, in fact sometimes it is downright unfair that they cop the brunt of it.
The facts with Dunlap in his stint in Adelaide is he could not, and made no attempt to accept establish players and did a lot of financial damage to the club.
He also made no attempt to embrace the Australian culture, except when it came to accepting his pay cheque!
Sacking and having to pay out players still under contract; see Smyth for example, as well as his massively over the top coaching contracts, not only for himself but for his assistants and support staff did considerable harm to the 36ers and alienated many.
No one can dispute the mans coaching record and success in the U.S in Division 2 and 3 teams he has coached, his record is second to none or the mans unbelievable basketball knowledge.
Sorry if this was a bit long winded but just wanted to point out a few facts.
Cheers.
