Former 36er and NBL MVP Rob Rose has signed a three-month deal with Cairns Taipans.

Rose will cover the loss of Gary Boodnikoff for the opening 12 weeks on the 06/07 season.

The follow is a part of the report from the channel ten news website:

Taipans head coach Alan Black said that it is a major bonus to have secured Rose to the short-term deal.

This is another sad indictment on the state of basketball in Australia. Are the local juniors that bad that they cannot get a run over a 40 yr old American who is not good enough to play in the US or Europe? Is this sad state of affairs a reflection on junior coaching and the bad management of basketball at a grass roots level that we cannot get local players to play even in our own national league?
