NBA Trade: Patterson for Smith

August 10, 2006 - The Milwaukee Bucks have acquired forward Ruben Patterson from the Denver Nuggets in exchange for forward Joe Smith, General Manager Larry Harris announced today.
"He's a tough, defensive-minded player who has shown an ability to score, and he also gives us added playoff experience. We know that Ruben's path through the NBA has been a difficult one at times, but we're confident that he has learned from those experiences and that he's ready to contribute to helping our team win. We're excited to bring him to Milwaukee.

"We certainly want to thank Joe for all he did for our organization during his three seasons here," added Harris. "Joe is one of the best. He was a wonderful team captain and truly embraced the Milwaukee community. We wish him well in Denver."

Starting line up of:
Centre: Andrew Bogut
PF: Charlie Villanueva
SF: Ruben Patterson
SG: Mike Redd
PG: Steve Blake/M Williams

still have Bobby Simmons off the bench...
Maybe a bit light in the guard position now...

You wouldnt pay 35 million for bobby simmons then start ruben patterson that's for sure. Excellent trade for the Bucks providing backup wing help, patterson is also an excellent defender. Hard to see where Smith fits into Denvers plans with Camby K-Mart and Nene taking up the majority of the minutes, however hes a good veteran backup and a great character guy.

sorry lockstock, just read you post...
M dizzle, i think Patterson would play the swingman role well with this current line up, with the bucks being able to utilise his scoring off the bench with the second team...much like the role he played with the clippers a couple of seasons ago.
Nene is injured, but should be okay by the start of the season, Camby is always injured, so good insurance there, and does anyone aven know what planet Kenyon Martin is on???

Kenyon Martin does nothing for a long time in games, gets a dunk, slaps the board and screams like he just scored fifty. Then we donĀ“t see him again for the rest of the game. He was carried by Jason Kidd in Jersey. Joe Smith is better without the fuss. Denver can only hope that Isiah still wants Kenyon, nobody else does.
