smyth has to go

Yes lads once again, phil tries to do the old "phil jackson" technique and let the troops try and weather the storm by themselves. Brisbane were always gonna beat us without Brett Maher, but after such a good first half we blow it being outscored 64-29. Do you know we out rebounded brisbane by 20? Heads have to roll i opened my arms to copeland but he can kiss my behind no wonder he got no court time in brisbane he was past his time 5 years ago. Farley may still hit a few jumpers but he is not even half the man he used to be. Horvath is great, he gets boards has great post moves but time and time again goes missing in the 2nd half. I would rather watch jwill and paul bauer. Farley has to go im sick of him talking to his mates on the sideline during the game when were getting pumped by 20.
Our proud club is the laughing stock of the nbl, i claim we finish 9th with an elimination game on the road against melbourne.
Our venue is lame, no beer on tap, no bratwurst dogs, there is more atmosphere at a port power match the music getting played is crap im sick of jessica simpson songs playing or even elvis presley last week give me the DJ position ill rock the crowd. Boo to the sixers cut the whole team and coach (except maher)phil still thinks its 1999. im out like horvaths second half

Jwill and paul bauer you kidding me???? That will make us more of a laughing stock. and what u talking about horvath going missing? He plays a great first half then gets double teamed what do u expect him to do, other players need to step up in this situation. They need to take some of the offensive focus away from #44 so he has some room to do something in the second half. And Jwill?????????? What the hell are u thinkin????? worst thing to ever happen to this club

First of all Willie needs some help out there, when was the last time one of the "big" men set a damb screen for him knock his defender out and get the team going. He is the momentum guy he will tear it up if the big men go down the yellow brick road and get a heart. IF ANYONE NEEDS TO GO ITS WHEELER And Copeland, then maybe Hill and Horvath. Players that know there roles are needed, we have 2 scorers already, let sign Ray Gordan.

You can see it's wearing on Phil, heart no longer in it. Needs to get away from it for awhile. Anybody got Ninny's number?

sorry anon, I can't let that one go unnoticed. Farley has screens set for him all the time high on the wing, it's a part of their set offence. Unfortunately he doens't have the intelligence or skills to use it wisely, unlike we saw with CJ or Black. Farley (as we have seen the last three weeks in a row) prefers to dribble around the three point line and take someone one-on-one for a dribble or two before getting himself into trouble and chucking up crap.

Cav, mate not having a go at ya but you have to look at the interests of the players that are supposed to set picks you would see the same as me, people are saying that Farley has been playing bad but in reality the team has been playing bad.(there is more empahsis on him because he is an import,Wheeler is getting good coin, and is doing nothing) look at the support out there he can't do everything, I broke down the last two games on dvd and saw all the picks that were set and mate they were weak. there is no flow to the game, you need your hype player and scorer to get the team going. but is someone doesnt sacrafice something in their game it wont happen.

come on anonymous, i said J will and bauer as a joke!
Farley gets picks all the time, he is to pre- occupied waving them away then trying a half assed crossover thinking hes T-mac to a weak fade away. Everyone knows farley can only go left. When was the last time farley went to the rack? Im not talking about jammin it, hes gotta take it strong, draw the defence, then kick it to a cutting horvath for the finish. Brisbane carved us up last night with the drive and dish from cj and black its time we disposed of big willie. let go of 2002 hes soft there is no desperation for the loose ball. my 3yr old nephew is harder.

Fridge look at the team Wille had around him back then, Role players!!!!!!! I agree that he hasn't taken the ball to the rack hard lately but the team is really weak around him too, brett is 1/2 himself and noone else helps out, you have a young guy turning it over 10 times and copes not performing at all. (Ray Gordon) 6ers need him

i understand, we are not winning anything with this list. we got role players, Garbage men like nash, cooper and wheeler. horvath needs 25 shots a game not farley. horvath gets doubled reguarly i thought that would free up open shots for farley and ( when hes there) Maher but when willie gets it he pump fakes the open shot to step left for a quick release high arking brick. We are wasting our import spot with him. im devo mate i loved farleys game, but lately hes been making me sick! we need a pure point guard like cj who is pass first shoot second mentality, someone who can run, brisbane had 18 more assists mate thats at least 40 more points by pushing the ball. When you run, you create opportunitys like easy buckets or foul shots. Brisbane had 10 foulshots per quater to our 6

This is a middle of the road team with no star quality presence players, so why are the performances causing so much angst.
The shocks should have occurred pre, pre season and didn't so now we are all in for a long, long, ball season.
If you have a team that curl up and die when their main man is missing, you need a new main man or a new team.
Who would put their hand up to coach the 36ers now with their line up and could they do any better?

Adelaide needs defense.. simple as that. teams like perth, tigers, kings who are the trendsetters are great defensive teams. offense wins games, defense wins championships.

(#101249)Yes anon, I did not think I would ever entertain the idea of Smyth being dumped by the 6ers, not even last year.

All of a sudden we are recruting 40 y.o players and taking chances with players who have a a history of long term injuries(wheeler)and keeping guys like Nash who along with a history of injuries as long as your arm, wont take a shot, even when they are staring him in the face.

Some of Phils subs are IMO suspect. The last 2 games I have seen, mastrovich (not sure about the spelling)has been in the zone, only to be subbed off for Copeland. Yeah sure he needs a rest, but give him a few more mins.

In the Brisbane game would it have really hurt to put on the 2 rookies? They need a bit of junk time to settle themselves and show the boss what they are capable of.

When Phil started coaching he brought fresh new ideas into the NBL. Unfortunatley he has stood still while everyone else has passed us by. Time to go.

How can anyone fault Horvath? The guy is top ten in scoring, rebounding, FG% and blocks - all while being ignored by his teammates in the second half! He works hard to get great position, then doesn't get the ball.

On Friday, he had 15 at the half, and only 17 at 3/4 time. I counted 4 occasions where he had his man sealed, including one where he had CJ Bruton sealed, and he wasn't given the ball. 2 of these occasions it was Farley who decided to jack a shot instead, and the one time he did feed the post, the pass was so bad, it went out of bounds - how can a pro basketballer throw a pass from 8 feet away OVER a guy who is 6'11"?

Horvath is the man. Best import we have had since......Dusty!

Doc, my theory is that at the half the perimeter guys are doing their numbers. If they aren't on track there's a scramble to 'get mine's', hence Horvath doesn't see the ball again.

Agree Dave, but my theory extends only to one perimeter guy......

Interesting to see the crowd reception that S. Ninnis got when the '86 Sixers team got introduced at half time. Very positive and surely it is his time to be put in charge of the Sixers and try to turn around a sinking ship.Provide some hope, bring some youth, work with the players. Hell, be a coach!

fridge, you make me sick!

Youre a pathetic supporter and a pathetic person. So the sixers have started off badley, that doesnt mean that you start saying the coach and all most of the players suck and should be sacked. If you had half a brain you would know that Willie is, and has been a superstar ever since he arived in Australia. Just because hes had a few bead games doesnt mean he sucks. What kind of fan turns on the player and the coach when they dont perform in the first 5 weeks. As far as im concerned this would be a better ball club if there were less fans like you!!

ive been a fan since 88 and this has been the worst start to a year ever, so as a gold member of the club spending $350 for season tickets this is unacceptable. Im still there every week with the boys screaming for the 6ers. Farley just needed some critisism. Hell my name is even signed on the wall in the sporn bar mate you got nothing. i bleed 36ers im more passionate than anyone
