Funny New Radio Coverage for NBL

The National Basketball League (NBL) has announced that it has appointed the WorldAudio owned Radio 2 network as the official national broadcaster of the Philips Championship.

Every Friday night for the next 20 weeks from 7:30pm to 9:30pm Radio 2 will broadcast In the Zone, a two-hour program live across Australia packed with basketball action.

"The Radio 2 network has an enormous reach across Australia and is also aligned with our existing partner FOX SPORTS and their digital platform," said NBL Broadcasting and Marketing Manager Mark Schroder.

"Radio 2 have already gained prominence as the official game broadcaster of the Sydney Swans and is committed to working with the NBL to help grow the Philips Championship."

"This is the first time our league has ever appointed an official national radio partner and it is an exciting step forward in our overall media strategy which will be incredibly beneficial for our fans."

The new weekly show on Radio 2 will cover all teams in the Philips Championship.

"In The Zone will be filled with big game commentary and live updates with all the news and views from the top coaches and players," said WorldAudio C.E.O Andrew Peter Thompson. "The program will be hosted by Radio 2 Head of Network Sport Colin Turner, who has a wealth of experience in basketball."

The Radio 2 National AM network has an estimated population coverage of 12 million [all ages]. Also, Digital Radio 2 on the subscription TV platform - Austar Digital (channel 2) and Foxtel Digital (Channel 831) - reaches an estimated 1.4 million homes Australia-wide.

Actually, it wouldnt make the KIngs the most successful NBL team ever.

Adelaide and Perth both have 4 championships (as did Canberra before their demise), so even if the KIngs somehow managed to get 3 in a row (which, on current form of only JUST winning most their games), I sincerely doubt (especially with the whispers getting louder and louder to dump Green and Sanford)
