36ers V Wildcats NYE Match

It's almost here, the match that will mean alot too the Sixers. They have a 'new formula' according to Phil Smyth and the team will be out to play more than ever.

Will the starting 5 be the same? Will we see Farley with more responsibilty? Will Sutton start?

I am tipping the Wildcats to win because they can play and have shown that before with being the only team to beat the Sixers in a NYE match. Sixers 6-1 in NYE matches.

Go Sixers!!!

Maher got bashed by Brooks I think. I know he got a poke in the eye and straight away walked up the players race. As much as I dislike Phil, this one was not his fault!

Very nice win...

Farley was great, especially in the 2nd half.

There was a Mark Nash sighting. Nice to see you again.

Cooper had an ordinary first half on defense, but was a total monster in the 2nd half.

Maher again misses out on a triple double by 1 stat.

Sutton hits one shot all game and it just happens to be the clincher.

The effort was there for 48 minutes. Even when they stunk it up in the final 6 minutes of the 1st quarter. Even when the ball just wouldn't drop in the 2nd quarter. That persistence paid off in the 2nd half.

yeah it was a good game, were getting bad calls in the 1st quarter but it evened out. Much better game from willie, just more efficient. Shame about brett, did not see a whole new look to the team other the farley running the point, which kept him active.gg.

113202, Perth's guards were obviously targeting his shooting, but couldn't shut him out of the game (14,10,9).
Farley was better than previous games, but still had a couple of silly t/o's . Perth exploited mismatches well, Maestro having to guard Rogers, also double teamed Horvath every time the ball went inside. Smythe, IMO, reacts too slowly to things on court, and loses momentum by not making adjustments quick enough.

There were Positives; some players wanted the ball this week, and they ran the floor well. At times they almost looked like the team we know and love. Lets hope they can take this into the remainder of their games.

Although it's great to have a win over a team like Perth it didn't feel quite as good as it should because Perth looked pretty ordinary. I don't think we looked very good in the 1st half, we were fumbling the ball and missing lots of shots. But don't get me wrong we played a great 2nd half, Willie played very well and threw down two nice dunks in the open court and with about 40 seconds left he got an off the backboard alley-oop from Copes but missed. Just hope the Sixers can play more like this in upcoming games.

Once again courtside at the match - the Maher incident took its toll, he Maher copped a beauty in the right eye & took himself off the court - Smyth didnt know it even happened until the medic was called in.

Farley played a good game, 10 times better than his last few games - perhaps this 'new game play' is working in his favour, comparing it to last weeks home game, he actually LOOKED LIKE he wanted to be there playing!!

Sutton's brief but very worthy play was awesome & very crowd pleasing!

Speaking of the crowd, I was surprised we were able to pull as many folk as we did! Being New Years Eve, I thought the effort made was surprising. but obviously appreciated by the players - they really stepped up in this game!

Cooper was invisible in the firs half, but the second half he really made it his own!!

Lets hope the 36ers can keep up this electric playing for the next 10 games left in the season!!!!!!!

I wouldn't take too much away from the 36ers, Perth played a tough game last night. It wa a great win and hopefully one that they can now build on to make the playoffs.

Has anyone noticed how the team will play more confidently when Coopers having an impact in defence. Then if they start to drag him out of the key the whole team reacts to it.

A lot of silver seats were bought up suggesting ticket sales for the match were actually very good.

Unfortunately on both side you could see plenty of empty seats, as well as a lot behind the backboards.

Suites looked relitively empty as well, suggesting that it was the corporates and season ticket holder who stayed away; where as the general public showed up in big numbers.

A great win, with exceptional performances from Willie, Mastro, Coops, Sutton and Brett. I feel sorry for Horvarth having to press the flesh all night, and fighting out of his weight range. He did a great job, wish he had a twin brother.
Perth seemed a little lacklustre have they had a tricky schedule recently.
Good to see the 007 factor back, ie a license to shoot...
Coops has really found an offensive role, who has been coaching his shooting inside and out. It's great to see him at both ends.

Yes, the Wildcats had a tough schedule that round with three games in three states (Slingers in Perth, Dragons in Melbourne, Adelaide in Adelaide) to Adelaide's one at home. The Dragons game went down to the final minutes and was played just the night before, so the Cats were really ripe for the picking on NYE.
