Well the pressure is off now to make the playoffs. Melbourne are the most vulnerable of the top 4. Maybe some frustrations of such a terrible season will erupt within the 6ers and will show on court. I think Adelaide will win this, based on the fact the Tigers, unlike the bullets are beatable, I want them to win soooo bad and we have had a knack for winning games this season, we simply aren't supposed too.

There will be atleast 12 Tigers fans. Make sure they can't be heard!

Also look out for these Illegal plays that a person on Ozhoops has found...

Bouncer:
"The Wedding Arch (called a "black defence" by Westover)

Three defenders stand over a shooter with their hands touching (hence the term wedding arch). This prevents the shooter getting a shot off as there are 6 arms/hands to fit through. Tough for the refs to call, as which one of the three players is doing the leaning in? Secondly, since most times it is all three defenders, then which one do you call the foul on?

Note to the refs, regardless, this is an illegal play. If the defenders hands are touching SOMEONE HAS TO BE LEANING IN. SO PICK ONE and CALL THE FOUL.

The Screen Con (called a "Sting" by Westover)

This is where 2 defenders fight through the screen and attack the guard carrying the ball. They do this by physically moving the screener, usually with an arm grab and pull or a leg interlink with the occasional push.

Note to the refs, if 2 Tigers defenders fight through a screen and neither of them go "around it" then chances are they did it illegally. You have an excuse if you don't see the foul the first time. But that excuse runs out after 5 or 6 times in a half. Particularly when the Tigers bench loudly calls for the on court players to "fight through the screen". Stop looking solely at the offence, watching for a travel or a double dribble and CALL THE CONTACT FOUL on the defence.

The Double Guard Check (a continuation of the "Sting" play)

After the 2 defenders illegally move the screen they attack the guard in an attempt to trap the ball, force a turn over or simply delay the play to run down the shot clock.

The 2 defenders then lean over the guard to prevent the pass, at least one defender and sometimes both will put a hand on the guard's hip to prevent them breaking the trap. Note to the refs, THIS IS A HAND CHECKING FOUL, so call it. It doesn't matter that 2 defenders are doing it at once, PICK ONE.

The Double Trip (a variation of the "Sting" play)

The Tigers occasionally run a variation of the Double Hand Check, where both defenders stick out their legs behind the guard. Making the hand check unnecessary. If the guard tries to split the defenders he will fall over their legs and causes a turnover. This is of course a trip, which warrants a blocking foul being called. But at the same time the defenders wave their arms around the side and over the head of the guard to prevent the pass. This distracts the refs and they miss the trip.

Note to the refs, there is contact so THIS IS A FOUL, so call it. It doesn't matter that 2 defenders are doing it at once, PICK ONE.

The Shove for an Open Court Lay Up (called a "Yellow" by Westover, if there are 2 defenders it's called a "Double Yellow")

This is where the Tigers run a fast break play on an opposition missed shot. The defence is awake to this play and, lets face it, hardly any of the Tigers players are fast enough to outrun the defence. But often the Tigers get an uncontested lay up, just this fact alone should make the refs watch the streaking players. But they don't, they watch the rebounder and the passer. This means the Tigers player can "move" the defence with a shove on the way down the court and none of the three refs see it.

This play is very obvious to the crowd as they have wide enough vision to see the off the ball shove. It is pretty damn obvious when 2 player (one Tigers, one defence ) are running down the court and suddenly the defensive player veers off, away from the line to the basket. Why would he do that? Leaving the Tigers player free to take the long pass and make the uncontested lay up. You would think surely that the refs would find the unusual deviation in course of the defensive player cause to watch the play the next time. But no, they fall for it time after time.

How about one of the three refs watches the down the court players and calls the shove? Surely all three of you don't need to watch the rebound and passers.

The Tech Foul Suck In (called a "Double" by Westover)

This is where the Tigers consistently pull the same foul on the same opposition player several times and don't get called for it. The opposition player asks the ref for a call on the first couple of occasions. When he doesn't get the deserved call he gets noticeably agitated about the refs lack of action. The Tigers bench/players see this and call for the same illegal play, this is a deliberate attempt to get the tech foul called. If it isn't called on the opposition player then chances are the opposition coach will get in on it and the tech will be called against him.

Note to the refs, if a Tigers opposition player is complaining about repeated fouls, how about JUST ONCE you bother to look for it? The "I DIDN'T SEE IT" excuse only works a couple of times, after that you look incompetent when you don't even look. The give away is when the Tigers bench starts demanding for a tech foul to be called. You know the next play they will repeat the same foul that their opposition has been complaining about.

These plays mostly rely on the fact that all three refs watch the ball at all times. So next time you are ref'ing a Tigers game, at least one of the three of you need to watch the off the ball action. It makes you look incompetent when the whole crowd sees the fouls and you consistently don't.

Note to Tigers opposition coaches, the Tigers run these plays and several other illegal ones consistently at almost every game. So in your pre game chat with the refs, point out these plays and ask for them to be watched for. In particular, emphasise the off the ball watching."

Don't let them happen!

The Melbourne fans made more noise than the Adelaide fans. They had more reason to.

Agreed. 36ers' effort was patchy, and hardly inspiring for home fans, though there were segments that cheered, just not enough of them.
