Razorbacks rumor, Cairns lose sponsor

Rumor on Ozhoops is that West Sydney Razorbacks may fold. Apparently they are running out on time and may not survive.

This would be terrible for the NBL but this is no surprise for us.

In other news, Cairns Taipans major sponsor RAWNET have 'disappeared'

They have gone broke and withdrawn there sponsorship from the Taipans. However they did pay for this season and payed it upfront.

From Rawnet:

Rawnet regrets to inform you that due to protracted discussions pertaining to certain confidential matters surrounding the relationship with one of our wholesale providers that suspension of ADSL2+ internet services only may progressively occur involving the following exchanges: Kirwan, Kelso, CBD, Gulliver, Wulguru and Bohle commencing from Monday February 12, 2007.

Hanging Round, great idea, though I would call them the Iraqi "Insurgents".

Gaze taking the Pigs franchise to HK has been the rumour for a fair while now so we'll see what happens.

Prime opportunity for the 36ers to pick the Razors' carcass IMO, though Rush and Khazzouh will be popular options elsewhere you'd say.

The Pigs are done. The consortium has done the due diligence and determined that the club is riddled by debt, but the worst problem is the lack of sponsorship for next year and beyond. The club has been mismanaged horribly over the last couple of years and without the Canterbury Leagues club propping them up now they will simply cease to exist.

Basically no sponsorship (and the current Westbus deal is for peanuts) = no cashflow. If new owners bought in under the current conditions, they'd amass even more debt. It's be like throwing good money after bad, and it's just not worth the risk.
