With just over a week away, I like many are getting excited about the up and coming ABL season.

What are peoples tips in the men and women for round 1?

Some great match ups straight away to get the season started.

North v West @ Hillcrest
Norwood v Sturt @ Mars
Southern v Woodville @ MVale
Forestville v Eastern @ Wayville

Is there going to be a tipping site this year?

Here are my tips

South by 12: Due to the addition of Pilkington and Coach Carter.
North by 6: One word 'Dusty' (hopefully he is playing). OK another couple of words, their form in the Blitz.
Norwood by 10: Because it is going to be hot that day. Hot/Flames get it?
Southern by 2: They are hard to beat at home. Also the addition of Franchesina.
Forestville by 8: The Eagles are a well drilled unit. Add to that Oakley.

I heard the real reason Centrals dont have a womens team is that they were better than the men, and replaced them for the season.

so no, Centrals will not "smash" anyone this season.

Women:

North v West - West by 17+ (North not looking the power they once were, may struggle until Jo Hill arrives)

Norwood v Sturt - Sturt by 15+ ( Lady Sabres rolling nicely and Norwood running a young squad)

Southern v Woodville - Southern 20+ (still same old Woodville)

Forestville v Eastern - Forestville by 5 (good match ups in guard spots)

Men:

Centrals v South - South by 12 (Centrals too young, and Pilkington back makes Souths scoring strong)

North v West - North by 15+ (Match up of the round but North too well drilled)

Norwood v Sturt - Norwood by 20+ (Darren Ng would have to score 70 to make it any different)

Southern v Woodville - Woodville by 2 (Southern will need more than just flex as an offence to win, Woodville are playing hard)

Forestville v Eastern - Forestville by 17 (sutton out but Oakley in still means a victory to the eagles)

Unfortunately, I have no time to run a tipping competition this season, but someone else is welcome to pick up the ball and run with it.

Is it just me or is James Pennington now at Centrals? Is this the return of the prodigal son?

He is negotiating contracts with a few teams but James Pennington has always been at Centrals, I am lead to believe.

Alot of teams have spoken to james pennington here and overseas ... but he is loyal to centrals and will be starting center this season . watch out for him to have a big season . He has already stated his goal is to get a dunk on dusty so watch out

Sturty, why are southern hard to beat at home? And keep a straight face when you answer.

I'll stick to the men on this one:

Centrals v South @ Starplex - South by 8. South too deep and big
North v West @ Hillcrest - North by 18. North seem to have come together early in the season, while West still might need some "gel-ing"
Norwood v Sturt @ Mars - Norwood by 12 - Norwood with essentially the same line up as last year.
Southern v Woodville @ MVale - Southern by 4. Southern at home in a close one
Forestville v Eastern @ Wayville - Forestville by 16. Forestville too fit and too good
