Seating at Marion stadium

Whats the seating like at Marion stadium for a mens ABL game. Haven't been there for years, and was thinking of going. Do you need to get there early to get a seat?....ie get there before the womens match?

Can be tough to get a seat at a popular game but that's part of the charm of the ABL.

The seating is about as good as Hillcrest. Absolute Crap. Someone is going to get hurt at these stadiums one day and then the S**t will hit the fan.

The atmosphere created in stadiums like Marion is electric! You will never get the same thing out of a stadium like the Dome.

You shouldn't be able to watch a game 7 rows back with 10 seats around you. Get in there, court side, so you can smell the game, feel the bumps, you know have scalding hot coffee give your lap third degree burns when a loose pass hits the person next to you.

That's what the games should be about, not having the capacity for 10,000 people&

That's not even mentioning the advantage these stadiums give the home team. You need to know where the flat spots are on the floor, where the lights will be in shooters eyes, and where the asbestos is the visitors change rooms.

Alan/Jack, do you really think the home teams know where the flat spots are, and consciously think of not dribbling there during games, or where the lights blind the eyes, and spot up from other parts of the floor? I've heard that said a few times, not sure if it is all that accurate...

Cos if they did, Southern should be right up there. Right, lockstock?

lockstock,

my comment was directed at the overall benefit a home team gets from a stadium like that. No one is going to deliberately avoid a flat spot on the floor.

the benefit to the home team is more to do with the crowd support which is IMO directly correlated to the proximity of the fans to the court and or other spectators. They effectively become a 6th man on the court, able to drown out communication between players on the other team.

Like the old Celtic stadium with the Leprechaun sitting on the opponents ring swatting shots. hang on, that's not a leprechaun, that's Adam Peck!

haha fair enough. There's no doubt South are 10 times the team at home than they are on the road.

As for Southern, look for the deadspot at the entrance end of court 2, just left of the middle about a meter above the 3 point line. If you can avoid that one you'll be alright!

On at southern, when taking a free throw at the end with the changerooms.

so would this weekend vs woodville be classed as a popular game then Isaac? Really dont want to stand with a newborn, but dont want to have to get there at 6pm either.

Probably not - see how you go.

Between the Womens and Mens games, you should be able to sneak a spot even if it's busy.

Dont make the same mistake I did last season by sitting on the eastern side of the stadium near the 3 pt line. I got hit in the face with an elbow (still dont know by whome) by a player chasing down an out of bounds ball.

I saw stars for ages after that one.

Oh and take a cushion.

what about Saturday's performance by South?

Easier to backup a game against Centrals than Forrestville...
