How come KB has gone to the Hawks??? was it a case of the 36ers not wanting to keep him or was it a better opportunity for him to be a first assistant at the hawks as apposed to 2nd assistant here??
Anyways good luck KB, ive been a big fan ever since the back to back titles when he first came to a league!

FROM THE NBL WEBSITE:

Tim Keeble of the Illawarra Mercury has reported that the Wollongong Hawks are close to securing the services of former South Dragons import Kavossy Franklin, as well as Singapore Slingers free agent Jeremy Kench.

The Hawks have been looking to consolidate their roster after the loss of a number of key players, including imports Cortez Groves and Adam Ballinger.

The addition of Franklin, who has averaged 19.9 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.4 assists during his three years in the Philips Championship, would go a long way towards rebuilding the team.

"There's a strong likelihood that everything will be sorted out with Kavossy and Kench by the end of the week," Hawks director Richard Clifford confirmed to the Mercury.

Kench, a 186cm guard who played with the Slingers during their inaugural campaign, is a former New Zealand junior international

Meanwhile, the Mercury has also reported that "former Adelaide star and ex-36ers assistant coach Kevin Brooks has been confirmed as an assistant to Wollongong coach Eric Cooks, while former Hawks and Townsville guard Matt Flinn will join the club as a second assistant."

Do the Slingers have anyone besides Ben Knight left? That David Moore benchie?

Wasn't Trahair going to the Blaze, Melmeth too? Davidson to the Hawks, now Kench as well. The little Davidson is with Adelaide. Helms is injured and in Germany, though still staying in touch with his Slingers teammates on MySpace at least. Chandler, same, though no idea where he's playing. That's seven of their team. Who's left?

Only Vasiljevic (who Gordie barely played) and Hyams (who also barely played last season).

I can only imagine that the Slingers are desperately talking to the NBL about concessions to sign an extra import, bring someone in from the CBA, etc.

The hawks should maybe get Brooks and Cooks to be playing coaches as well, they are going to need them the way things are going.

This could be a first in the NBL a playing coach and assistant coach : )
