Pioneers defeat Miners 95-88

Seems that everyone is a little more reluctant to post when the Pioneers actually win and they don't have something to critise the club about!

The Pioneers defeated Ballarat by 7 at the IceHouse last night in what was a much better performance.

Matt Shanahan was kept fairly quiet with 14 points coming of the bench for his team. Veterna Ricky Daniels had 22.

Jon Shepherd provided one of his best games for the Club with 27 points and Chris Lewis put together 18 points and 18 rebounds.

Excellent result, i wasnt able to get to the game last night, so thanks or posting the scores. I really like lewis he is solid and consistent not flashy or starry but you know what you are going get from him each week which is tough to find.

It was a win but against a team that is performing even worst than the pioneers. They were up 20 points and only just managed the win by 7. Shep was good last night and suits the role of not having the ball in his hand. He scored from assists, rather than off the dribble. Lewis was only OK - 5 turnovers in about two minutes which wasn't pretty.
Still a real lack of team out there and structure in running sets. Sedlock was a good contributor up and down the floor

A win for sure but against a team that is worse than the pioneers this season and we were up 20 and only scrapped in a win by 7. Shep had a good game, played well presenting to the ball and shooting. Lewis rebounded well but five turnovers in a 2 minute stretch didn't help at a crucial time. Not enough teamwork and running through sets. Coaching performance needs to be put under the microscope down here.

Noticed no ones been posting results for couple of weeks. All loses. All the same with the Pioneers so no need to bag them about the same things over and over again.
Crowd was lowest its been for years. People dont want to see a a group of players playing poor basketball.
Is it going to kill the club, with no locals getting an opportunity and poor attitudes and no pride in the club. Does coach Sedlock care?????????

South East - your point - "no locals"? Seemed to me that they were all local players hitting the floor - don't they all live in Mt Gambier??
So next season we don't have anyone that hasn't been in the Mt since they were born or at least since they were ten years old - OK you name the team for me? If players are given the right basketball, work and lifestyle opportunities in the town, there is every chance that they will stay for more than the 26 week season.
Under your definition, which I guess means, grew up here - you have a "local" coach and his decison making or lack of is killing the team. eg previous week a red hot 3rd quarter against a top team where the five on the floor got a 30 point deficit down to 12 by 3/4 time. Coach starts the 4th with three of these players anchored to the bench until 5 mins into quarter and then subs them on one at a time - hell, what does this tell you about where the poor basketball is generating from?

Against Canberra it was the Gunners who fell asleep in the third, bored to death by the Pioneers' lack of competition in the first half, when they woke up again they blew it out, simple. Nothing to do with Sedders' subbing.

disagree and so would most of the crowd there and probably Sedlock too, as he was awesome that 1/4 - the crowd noise and support throughout that quarter is something you aren't hearing too often at the moment. The boys did well and played some uncharacteristic teamwork albeit for only about 10mins of that quarter. No coach (read Asst Coach) who values winning as opposed to underachieving would sub out players that are running hot.
