Funny Jenny Whittle signs with Lightning

The Adelaide Lightning have indeed managed to secure the signature of Opal Jenny Whittle - should shoot them into favouritism, you'd think?

The Adelaide Quit Lightning WNBL club is pleased to announce Centre player, Jenny Whittle, a member of the world champion Opals women's basketball team, as its latest signing.

Whittle, 33 and 197 cm or 6'5", is renowned as one of Australia's greatest ever defenders, has played over 300 international games for Australia and in excess of 250 WNBL games.

Wonder how much coin?
It would have taken her a bit to move. New owner seems to be splashing the cash around

Sounds like the team is working out fine.

All they need is a back up big and backup point guard.

Phillips/?
Camino/King
Foley/Duke
Gahan/Woosnam
Whittle/?

Not sure that Lorenzini is the answer at Backup point. Why not try a SA born and bread like Mansfield?

Backup big is harder to find. Maybe someone like Truslove or Hannah Bowley?

And can't wait until some of the AIS girls come home.

yes but will they come back to Adelaide and sit on the bench while Chris sets out a buys his team instead of having the home grown team that may need a bit of work with to development although Abby and Cayla are up there.

What local alternatives are there?

I thought Hannah Bowley but wouldn't she give up a few inches to Whittle, Francis, etc?

nice little north adelaide shove there - nice to see rockets respect one of their best abl contributors.

erin deserves her spot - saw her shoot severl points in her longest time on teh court for lightning last season - dhe set up plays and did everything right - any punishment / dropping on her would be unjust.

mansfield may be for the future - but hardly at the expense of EL

Whittle will not win the Lightning a title, she had one good season last season. BIG DEAL. she will not help the lightening. Phillips may on the otha hand
