Heaven is a playground

'Michael Jordan' was originally supposed to play the role that Bo Kimble went on to take. In the fall of 1998, the filmmakers went to courts with a breach-of-contract lawsuit against Jordan seeking at least $16 million in damages, citing the lack of Jordan as the cause of the film's box-office flop and the derailment of director Randall Fried, who in the words of their attorney, "should have been and would have been the next Steven Spielberg" if the film had been successful. Jordan countersued. The jury founded Jordan not liable and awarded him $50,000 in favor of his countersuit

Teen Wolf

Actually - there are no good fictional basketball movies ... maybe Hoosiers at a stretch

With that said, Hoop Dreams is one of the best movies ever made

Thanks for your list Bluey! I recently saw a good movie about the life of Earl "the goat" Manigault. Can't remember what it was called though?
Basketball Diaries was another good one.

Its called "rebound". I thought it was bit long and boaring. I like the bit with Kareen at the start tho.

Hey Moses Guthrie, where are you? Tell everyone what your favourite basketball movie is!

Okay, what's a good movie with a basketball player in it (not actually about basketball)

My call is Kareem in Flying High. Classic.

And Axel and Wheels in Star Wars III. Sounds like something the Seals could use? AXEL Dench, Brett WHEELer, wookies.... This thing writes itself.

John Salley was good value in Bad Boys...

Double Team - with JCVD and The Worm is worth watching for the high camp and forced basketball related innuendoes...

Yeah, since seeing that movie Kent, I don't have any desire to play "jungle ball" ever again.

Not a movie, but Stewie playing basketball and trash talking on Family Guy always cracks me up.

Oh yeah, and Teen Wolf is an awesome movie. Chubbs is wicked.

Basketball episodes from "Hanging with Mr Cooper" and "Fresh Prince of Bel Air" all quality.

Yeh that's right it was called Rebound: the legend of Earl the Goat Manigault. Hakeem's bit was good at the beginning, he say's the goat was the best player he ever saw period. I wonder how true it was that he could touch the top of the backboard?

I'm with you guys Kwest and DC, He Got Game is the one.. Crazy moves in it with REAL basketballers, not like that shit ass movie Basketball Diaries. I've hated Leonardo ever since I saw his dribbling action... terrible.

Another one just for pure athletic ability is "Hook Mitchell", 5'8" and could just about hit his head on the rim. It's a doco about him, worth seeing.

In Moses Guthrie's absence I'll put in a mention of "The Fish that saved Pittsburgh". DrJ is in it, he loves it more than his kids :)

The best part about Rebound is the Kevin Garnett cameo!

Other than that I think He Got Game and Glory Road are my personal favs.

White Men Can't Jump is a classic for reminiscing on the early 90's though.

Spot on Northener, couldn´t even begin to take Basketball Diaries seriously after seeing the on court action.

Used to love White Men Can´t Jump, looks a bit dated watching it now but good for the memories.

Hoop Dreams has got to be my favourite of the list though, fascinating stories.

Hoop dreams is also available at Blockbuster Warradale on diagonal road. Cheaper than buying it. But I of course will not suggest anything illegal like burning it.
