The latest on the Slingers

In searching different sites I cant seem to find much info on the Slingers.

Who have they recruited, who are their imports, etc

Are they going to be in the league this year or not?

the slingers have on player being signed in being Ben Knight. Slingers haven't been doing much in the recurting process , put in this way the future of the investment the nbl has put in the slingers may not be around for the second season

If they do under would one of the bidders who didnt get the teams that have gone on sale recently such as the 36ers or the Pirates among others look at buying them and bringing them back to Australia somewhere, sure there isnt heaps od Aussie talent left but maybe you could surround Knight with some of the young college guys, would guys like Blascynski, Matt Knight, Kickert, etc come home for a chance to start in the NBL and a wage of 100k-150k plus since the slingers should have plenty of cap space

They have a deadline of the end of this month to get their house in order. If they don't, the league has a backup schedule ready to go. So that fans don't get fewer games for their money, I believe that schedule involves the other teams playing a couple of extra games.

However, IMO, there's no point in the Slingers propping themselves up financially for another season if they're just going to bleed money again and give it up next year.

There was an article in the Singapore Newspaper on Friday, The Straits Times (no link sorry) headed "Slingers Set to Stay in NBL". The article goes on to say that after losses of over $1m last year and an expected $3m operating cost this year Mr Wee Siew Kim the new Chairman of the Slingers said the Slingers "had enough money to go." He further said "We're definitely set to play, I don't believe there is anything holding us back".

So if you can believe what you read in the papers then...........

With small crowds, how are they going to cover those operating costs and stay alive after this season?

Big losses expecially as they are not required to pay any court rental for training or playing.
