Singapore gone

Word on the street is that West Sydney will not be taking a second import instead signing Ben Knight now that Singapore is no more.
Had this not been the case then Troy Devries (SEABL leading scorer) would have been signed.

According to the NBL site Bob Turner has stated that the Slingers future is bright and will be announcing player signings in the next couple of weeks.

Next couple of weeks ,better late than never but .......So who will these players be ? Mike Helms, Trahair , Knight , ....plus some young guns from ????

Seriously, how much time do players needs need together before they can become a team ?

Hopefully they will surprise us all.

Players like Darragh and Nash would have to be in consideration , even if it simply to get a squad together to compete.

No press release but apparently Knight has told WS.

If they play I think you will find that the key players will be better than Nash and Darragh. Bob Turner is not dead yet.

Darragh isn't with the breakers anymore, his contract came up and they didn't renew it.

Darragh was a joke and very overrated even as a bench player!

i'm a singapore fan, and i think we'll be seeing a lineup looking something like this:

C Andrew Rice
PF Ben Knight
SF Import?
SG Mike Helms
PG Import/Damian Ryan?

Aaron Trahair
Adrian Majstrovich
Marcus Ng?
ABA Player
ABA Player
Singapore dev. player
Singapore dev. player

Hi Milky . I think you are getting close . Care to suggest the ABA players ?

i wouldn't have a clue. i just think they'll have to fill the spots with someone, and that's the best place to look other than maybe bringing back old vets like marcus timmons and even rob rose or mark nash. maybe darren smith too?. i think that they will try and bring Eban Hyams from the our NSW Waratah league back, although he played there last season and wasn't happy with the minutes he was getting. he has a young family that stayed in sydney for the season, and playing so far from home wasn't really something he enjoyed. i'm not familiar with other aba leagues around the country. i'm sure there's guys in seabl too.

i have actually heard that Anthony Susnjara - the kings 11th/12th man - is a very big possiblity too.

also, Anthony Stewart is a likely signing, as he is averaging 29 points and like 6 boards and 6 assists in aba, and doesn't want to retire. i've heard singapore is likely

so...

C Rice
PF Knight
SF Import
SG Helms
PG Import

Stewart
Trahair
Majstrovich
Marcus Ng
Dev.players

dave gruber and ryan blankson are a couple of americans in the seabl that have been getting solid numbers. but probably arent' good enough to take import spots

Reply #143760 | Report this post

I agree that the team is more likely to be made up of young players than old guys.

I think there will be 3 Singaporean development players . Then I think at least one of the ABA's could come from Queensland. I do not believe Majstrovich will be in team.

are you talking possible about frank drmic?!?!

i certainly hope not. i would rather some other team take the plunge on him. we need players though, and he has got experience. i just wish he'd stop jacking threes

what about kane oakley????

former townsville centre andrew goodwin?

what about former kings and tigers import Thalo Green?

former wildcat and breaker ben thompson?

former king michael kingma?

rhys martin?

it better not be adam darragh

what about zane meehl?

he is a former junior tall black, so he wouldn't take an import spot. he's averaging 30 points and 5 assists in QBL, including a monster triple double of 47 points 11 rebounds 11 assists

he's a guard

I doubt the Slingers would re-sign Eban Hyams either. It wasn't just Hyams who wasn't happy there last season.

His family is in Sydney, but don't think he has "a young family", only a girlfriend, right?
