The Best Rookie Seasons In NBA History

Some pretty amazing stat lines from the Greats in their Rookie campaigns. Will we see the likes of these sort of numbers ever again.

From Real GM By Christopher Reina

Greg Oden & Kevin Durant are just months away from beginning the rookie seasons of what many are expecting to be Hall of Fame careers. While they will compete against each other for the ROY award, the competition to join the top-ten list of rookie seasons ever is very tough.

8. David Robinson, 1989-90

7. Shaquille O'Neal, 1992-93
He averaged 23.4 points, 13.9 rebounds & 3.5 blocks per game.

6. Michael Jordan, 1984-85
He averaged 28.2 points per game as a rookie.

5. Elgin Baylor, 1958-59
He averaged 24.9 points & 15 rebounds per game.

Hard to go past Wes Unseld though. MVP and Rookie of the Year playing for the Washington. Only player to ever achieve this feat!!

How bout Magic Johnson

18.0 pts
7.7 Reb
7.4 Assists
2.4 Steals

But the Big O's numbers are amazing...IMO...his No 1

To avg almost a triple double is a fair effort
