NBL Pre-Season: Pigs at Blaze

Pigs got up 118-113.

For the Razorbacks, five players scored in double figures. Darnell Hinson led the way scoring 30 points. Graeme Dann had 16 points, seven rebounds and eight assists. Matt Knight had 16 points and eight rebounds, Julian Khazzouh had 17 points and nine rebounds, while Anthony Petrie had eight points and eight rebounds.

Harvey led the Blaze scoring with 27 points, including five three-pointers. Gold Coast's American import tandem of Juaquin Hawkins and Jason Crowe contributed 24 and 17 points respectively, with Crowe going a perfect eight-of-eight at the free-throw line. The remainder of the Blaze's starting five, Ben Melmeth and Scott McGregor, both added 12 apiece.

Blaze were horrible in first half - offence was non existant and defence about the same. 2nd half picked up and showed some good signs.
Crowe looked good IMO and should do well as PG - would win a Gary Payton lookalike comp!
Hawkins reminded me a bit of Willie Farley - when he was switched on his defence was great and his offence fed off it for some great plays. But he also at times looked a little dissinterested and just going through the motions.
Harvey - typical niggling, antagonising self - was struggling for fitness after a month out with calf tear towards end of each 1/4
Pero, Frank, Melmeth and Mscgregor - all solid and will be setting some big screens all year - wouldnt want to run into them. will have to sort out interior defence as yesterday Pigs got way too many layups
Demos showed some good signs - agressive and fearless driving to the hoop - made a fantastic play which brough the crowd to its feet in 2nd half
Joyve - didnt get many minutes - needs to fill out as he looks so skinny and gets pushed around a bit

Crowd was about 1000 (pretty much a full house) so that was very encouraging - and lots and lots of kids!
