Locked: Best Nicknames - Any League

NBA - Kirlenko AK47

NBL - D-Train - Dwaine McLain

Worst nickname - Slammin Sam Mackinnon

Worst in any league would have to be when they do the inital and half the last name like T-Mac and D-Mac and J-Will, I hate that.

I have to agree with you Kent.

I can just imagine that Kirilenko grew up dreaming of having the number 47 for the purposes of his current nickname -- and good on him for making it!

Not sure about Jacob Holmes' dreams of "J-Diddy"; I hope that's a joke of his! ;)

Tony "VW" Ronaldson is funny.

I'm not going to shut up about Erik "Parrot" Burdon until that name sticks. Or Bronson "Bubble Bobble" Kies.

Cameron "Trigger" Tragardh... Hmmm.

And I hate when NBA nicknames are transferred over to the NBL, Who was the Mailman in Australia? Wasn't it Scott Fisher, you have got to be joking?

"The Mailman" was actually Paul Maley, not Scott Fisher!

The original microwave I believe was former South East Melbourne Magic player and from the same hairdresser that brings you Shane Heal and Simon Kerle...Andrew "the microwave" Parkinson.

Andrew of course used had a liking to launch threes from the hot dog stand.

I can't believe that after so many posts not one person has mentioned;
Brad 'Snake' Gerlach.

Probably one of the most applicable nicknames ever to be placed. For those who aren't sure, we call him Snake due to his ability to slither into tiny gaps in the defence... He's just so SLIPPERY. Oh and not to mention he is cold blooded which explains how he can be so cool on the court.

As for the other Tigers... I always thought that 'Franchise' was a particularly good one for Joe Ingles.

All the And1 nicknames are stupid.
Any nickname that you get because it rhymes with your name or matches your last name is kinda stupid or at least not original.
Long drawn out sentences for nicknames are stupid.
Nicknames that dont make any sense or that are too thought out are stupid too.
and nicknames that other people already have are worthless.
Nicknames that come from other names. i.e. T-mac, J-will.. as far as Im concerned A-rod was the original or at least the first one I heard. but most are pointless.

Nicknames should be original (stupid and weird doesnt equal original)

Anyway,
Jamal 'The Abuser' Tinsley
Stephon 'The Handler' Marbury
Michael 'Air' Jordan
'Magic' Johnson
Lou 'The Iron Horse' Gherig

Stupid ones:
White chocolate
Hakeem 'The Dream'
And 99.99% of and1 or any streetballer.
