can someone explain to me

what with the +/- thing is on yahoo nba box scores?

i was sure it was effieciency, but it never adds up to wat i can expect it would be..
example

http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/boxscore?gid=2007122814

how can wade be -2 with a line of 48points 7boards and 11assists while shooting 16-21 FG and 16-23 FT with 3 steals and 3 blocks and 5 turnovers in 51 mins...

while barron is +14 on 0 points, 2 boards, 1 assist 0-4 shooting and no steals, blocks or turnovers in 15 mins..

doesnt make sense to me...

thanks

I think it means that the particular players team was +14 pts whilst he was on court, or -2 pts whilst on court, as an example.

If Wade scored 48 pts & played a lot of minutes, but his team got beaten badly, he would have a negative in the box scores.

A lot of star players on bad teams that get beaten badly end up in the negative, even if that player had a great game stats wise.

It's a teams scoring output compared to the oppositions, whilst that player is on court! Not the individual players output.
