3 Triple Doubles in a row...

Jason Kidd today is trying to do what only one other current player has been able to do in the last 10 years. That is fire off 3 consecutive Triple Doubles. He has 96 career TD's and only sits behind Magic and The Big O on the all time list.

Any idea of the other current player to achieve this?

He is also giving Oscar's TD average for a season a good shake!

Season averages 11.4pts 8.8 reb 10.7 ast.

Also, who do you think of the current players is a TD machine? Personally, I see C.Paul and also Andre Iguodala as the type of players who could rack up a few in their careers, any others?

Kidds a class act, and I hope he gets the three TD's, I'm sure he doesn't care that the NBA is the cheapest assist league in the world....

Agreed, Gerald Wallace could be. Bobcats would love it if he could.

Great job Kidd. Go for 4 now!

Didn't Bob Sura have two triple doubles in a row a few seasons ago?

Kobe had 2 Triple Doubles in a row during the 2002-03. He missed his 3rd in a row by 1 assist.

I recall Sura trying to get a cheap rebound on the final play to get his second or third triple double in a row - was in the backcourt and threw the ball at opponents rim so he could rebound it ! initially was counted as a stat, but league stepped in, and corrected to 9 rebounds (as a rebound only counts if it is a LEGITIMATE shot attempt, and no one legitimately shoots for the other team!)

That wasn't Sura, that was Ricky Davis.

Melvin is right, that was Sura. He did it while playing for the Hawks just around the Wallace trade if I remember correctly.

For those interested, the most double-doubles this season have been by Dwight Howard:

Dwight Howard (30/35 games)
Al Jefferson (25/33)
Chris Kaman (25/31)
Steve Nash (25/34)
Carlos Boozer (24/34)

Triple doubles this season:

Jason Kidd (10)
LeBron James (4, including a B2B)
Caron Butler (2)
Marcus Camby (with blocks!)
Baron Davis
Kirk Hinrich
Andrei Kirilenko
Tracy McGrady

Correction, and apology Melvin. It happened to BOTH of them!

Sura apparently had his revoked when the league said that he had intentionally missed a lay up so he could get his own rebound.

Here is footage of the Ricky Davis one, love the Deshawn Stevenson body check after, does Horry proud...he he

elg, i read an article bout jason kidd a while ago which said that he has been one stat shy of a triple double about 30 odd times, but has never been subbed back in to get the stat because he feels its disrespecting the game...

How about this one as well...

In 1996, the Magic were in the process of blowing out Detroit, 113-91, when guard Anthony Bowie was one assist shy of a triple-double. But Orlando called a timeout with 1.4 seconds left so that it could set up one more play. Detroit's coach at the time, Doug Collins, ordered his team not to guard the play at all so that Bowie could get his gift assist and phony triple. When Bowie tapped the ball to a teammate, who then scored, there were three-tenths of a second left. But a disgusted Collins and his team were already walking off the floor, opting not to extend the charade any further.

But it was Collins that got fined $5,000 for "unsportsmanlike conduct."

Pfft unsportsmanlike conduct?? I thought Bowie was almost guilty of that!

It's almost as though Kidd is playing a different game to everyone else. "What do you mean we're trying to knock down all ten pins? I've been trying to roll it down the gutter, bounce out and only take down one pin. I thought I was winning!"

Kidd missed his 4th in a row today against the Sonics.
16pts 5 reb 11ast in 28 mins ( sat out the 4th ). Would have been the first since MJ to do it (1989 - 7 straight!!!!).

He had something like 8/4/5 in the first quarter and then could barely get a rebound for the rest of the game.

Nice first quarter line though...MJ with 7 straight would have been good to see. That was when Doug Collins switched him to PG. Nice response.
