U12 boys 1 Sturt over Eastern, Southern over Woodies

U12 boys 2 Sturt 1 over Woodies, Sturt 2 over Norwood 1

U14 boys 1 Sturt over Woodies, North over Southern

U14 boys 2 Sturt 1 over Sturt 2, Forestville over Torrens Valley

U16 boys 1 Norwood over West, Eastern over Sturt

U16 boys 2 Sturt 1 over Forestville, Torrens Valley over Norwood

U18 boys 1 Sturt over North, West over Forestville

U18 boys 2 Sturt over Norwood, West over North

Sorry really don't know anything about the U20 comps apart from North being near certainties in the div 2's.

Don't see any 4 over 1's happening, but a lot of the 2 v 3 games will be very interesting.

Breakdown of div 1 & 2 teams in finals (including U20s)

Sturt 11 boys, 8 girls, 19 total.
North 7 boys, 8 girls, 15 total
Forestville 5 boys, 10 girls, 15 total
Norwood 6 boys, 6 girls, 12 total
West 3 boys, 3 girls, 6 total
Woodville 3 boys, 2 girls, 5 total
Southern 2 boys, 2 girls, 4 total
Eastern 2 boys, 1 girls 3 total
Torrens Valley 2 boys
South 1 boys

City South running rampant again.
Gap between top 4 & rest widening.
South are awful, especially considering the 1 side they *do* have in finals, is an U20 side which isn't even really juniors.
Good to see Woodville & Southern with some good teams in younger age groups. Hopefully they can retain their players & put coaches in to develop them.

it works

I have to agree with city south working.
The skills clinics the club runs for city south players are great.
My son and I were approached by the Sturt under 10 coaches on Sunday after the game.
I was asked if we were interested playing district basketball as Sturt was adding another group of 1st years in the winter season.
The coaches come out and watch games and then are able to select a team from the 4 on a Sunday afternoon.
I can highly recommended the process

Overall teams in finals

Boys

Sturt 15 out of 22 = 68%
Norwood 19 out of 30 = 63%
Forestville 12 out of 24 = 50%
North 10 out of 27 = 37%
Woodville 6 out of 14 = 42%
Eastern 2 out of 7 = 28%
West 5 out of 22 = 22%
Southern 4 out of 22 = 18 %
South 4 out of 23 = 17%
Centrals 0 out of 10 = 0%

Girls

Norwood 14 out of 20 = 70%
Forestville 15 out of 24 = 62%
Sturt 13 out of 21 = 62%
North 9 out of 19 = 47%
West 5 out of 15 = 33%
Eastern 1 out of 4 = 25%
Southern 3 out of 16 = 18%
Woodville 2 out of 12 = 16%
South 0 out of 11 = 0%
Centrals 0 out of 2 = 0%

Overall

Norwood 33 out of 50 = 66%
Sturt 28 out of 43 = 65%
Forestville 27 out of 48 = 56%
North 19 out of 46 = 51%
Woodville 8 out of 26 = 30%
West 10 out of 37 = 27%
Eastern 3 out of 12 = 25%
Southern 7 out of 48 = 14%
South 4 out of 34 = 11%
Centrals 0 out of 12 = 0%

Tends:

Norwood look to have moved up. Some of this is in lower div's, but a good result none the less. Especially in the girls.

Eastern are above Southern overall, but I would rather 7 teams than 3 out of 12. Doesn't bode well for long term development if you continually decrease number of teams.

Sturt have dropped a little especially in the girls.

North seem to have increased numbers but not doing much better.

South are decreasing teams and # of teamsd in finals. Not looking good.

West are doing well with team numbers but Woodville are doing better with results.

Thoughts?

Thoughts are pretty much the same as yours, funnily enough!

Good signs for Norwood, a slight dip from Sturt, top 4 in general a long way ahead of the others, Southern & South continue to underwhelm (which surprises no one considering the administration at both clubs).

Imbalance
Years ago

An imbalance in your Div 3+ results to Div 1/2 results represents a club that are not able to develop their players but are larger than most clubs IMO.

The test for Norwood's development will be if their program has the ability to translate the success sheer weight of numbers gives them in Div 3+ teams and actually show they can do some development to deliver better performances at the higher end of the competition. They do not have any div 1 teams that will put up a descent showing in the Summer finals other than their U16 D 1 boys.

Norwood have only 1 team in each grade.

This why they look better, they should have many teams move up a division for winter and the results may not be that special!!

Club Boys Girls Total
Sturt 11 5 16
Forestville 7 9 16
Norwood 8 7 15
North 2 5 7
Western 3 2 5
Torrens Valley 4 1 5
West 2 1 3
Woodville 2 1 3
Southern 1 1 2
Eastern 1 0 1
South 1 0 1

My tips were a disappointing 11/16 last week. Poor form.

(Mod#1: Formatting fixed.)

(Mod#2: Mod#1 didn't fix the formatting so well, IMO :P)

Ugh - formatting sucks. That is the list of teams into GFs this week - for all grades except U20 Men & U21 Women.

Top 3 all very close! Will be interesting to see who comes out with the most wins.

Thanks. So yeah, I guess that shows up Sturt's div 1 & 2 dominance, while Norwood & Forestville counter that with strong performances in lower divisions.

Wow - wouldn't that be something if U16 boys were the only thing in the way of a City South clean sweep?

FWIW - I agree with all of those tips, even if I think it's way too early in the morning for someone like dontfeedpossums to be up.

The possum non-feeder got 8/10 tips correct, with Southern winning the U10 girls & Forestville the U16 girls.

4 titles for Sturt on the boys side, 4 for Forestville on the girls side. Should make for a very interesting state champs...

Div 1 and 2 Summer Season Grand Finals

Club, Boys W-L, Girls W-L, Overall W-L

Sturt 6-3,2-3,8-6
Fvill 0-1,5-3,5-4
North 1-1,1-2,2-3
Nwood 1-1,1-0,2-1
TVall 2-1,0-0,2-1
Sthrn 0-1,1-0,1-1
Magic 1-0,0-0,1-0
West 0-1,0-1,0-2
Wvill 0-1,0-1,0-2
Eastn 0-1,0-0,0-1

Observations
1. City South dominate. Sturt in boys (10,12,14,18 D1), Forestville in girls (12,14,16,18 D1).
2. North and Norwood falling off the pace in the big 4 but lower division results are some consolation.
3. Torrens Valley 2/3 in boys D2 grades.
