Miami Heat Crowds

The boxscores consistently say that Miami are pulling crowds of around 18,000 yet whenever I see highlights of their home games the stadium look really empty. Whats going on? How can they possibly be pulling 18,000 when the majority of seats you see on tv are empty?

Because they seat considerably more than our 8000 Dome.

The NBA has a different pricing scheme....they'd be selling 18,000 worth of nose bleeds. Not many will pay the top dollar that the real close seats cost, unless the team is winning!

Miami's stadium only holds about 19,000, so I struggle to see what nose bleed tickets have to do with anything?

It is a valid question. Maybe those seats are held by season ticket holders, who just don't show up due to the way Miami have been playing? Also, Heat fans more often than not take about a full quarter to reach their seats, so maybe it just looks empty at the start of the game, and afer half time.
