Amare Stoudemire an MVP chance?

Is anyone playing better than this guy right now. 42 points against last years DPOY. Not to mention countless other dominating performances. If Phoenix win the west his name definitely has to be in consideration

Doesn't seem to make top five lists even. Many seem to have Kobe, LeBron, CP3, Garnett and then Nash or Ginobili.

A full season with Shaq and it might be a different story?

If he keeps his play up like he did in March theres no reason why he can't be considered this year. Well there shouldn't be.

Mt top 5 would be:
1. Lebron (Sure Kobe has won more but that was only after he got help)
2. Kobe (will prob get it though... MVP is often given to those who are most due, not neccesarily most deserving)
3. CP3
4. D.Howard
5. Ginobili

1. Kobe
2. CP3
3. Lebron
4. Garnett

5. Howard
6. Manu
7. Amare

No one else is worthy outside of these 4 for serious consideration for MVP. There is a big gap between these four and the rest...

I want paul to win it i reckon he deserves it. Although lebrons stats are awesome, his team is rubbish and he wont win it.

Its between Kobe and CP3. Garnett better not win it!

its out of Lebron and Paul, the two most marketable players in the league.

I dont understand how Garnett can be so high? His numbers, while being good are not amazing and he is rated as high as four. Yes his team may be the best in the NBA but how many teams have the likes of Pierce, Allen and Garnett along with a handy support cast.

For example Garnett has 18 pts 9 rebs and 3 ass compared to someone like Carlos Boozer who has 21 pts 11 rebs and 3 assists but is rated and number 17. The Jazz are rated around 5-7 yet Boozer gets no love.

Why would there be such a difference in the ranking?

Um because Celtics were the worst team in the league last year and now theyre the best team and the best defensive team which Garnett is almost single-handedly responsible for.

I agree with AK-47 Garnett has not singlehandedly brought Boston back to the top. It has been a team effort, so why should he be MVP?

the mvp award is stupid, it only takes into account stats. so pretty much what everyone is saying is the because lebron and paul have every offense designed to get assists or to score the ball they are better players than guys like duncan, garnett, kobe.. and deron williams, who IS better than paul. who runs an strict offense to perfection but isnt given the luxury of a pick on roll every offense and therefore doesnt get the same numbers. another classic example.. garnett is the same player he was last season but doesnt have every offense designed for him and isn't putting up the same numbers, does that make him less of a player? no. Thats why guys who put up Amare type numbers should'nt neccesarily get MVP's.

i win

garnett is the reason for their defensive efforts. he is a great defender but his leadership has changed the whole mentality of the sqaud

Garnett has bought a whole new attitude to the Celtics. I saw an interview on ESPN with PP. PP credits Garnett with injecting the team with belief along with a hard working attitude. PP admitted it was the addition of Garnett which made him have the best pre-season he has ever had.

Garnett as taken a poorly performing franchise and made it into a contender. They have gone from one of the worst teams in the NBA to one of the best. Sure Allen and Pierce have assisted, but you can put money on it that Allen and Pierce together would not be able to get out of the players and team that Garnett gets out of them along with one of the best records in the NBA.

If Boston didn't get Garnett there is a very good chance they wouldn't have Allen and they would of trade PP for picks. The addition of Garnett convinced PP to want to hang around, plus made it easier giving up the No 5 (Jeff Green).

AK, the MVP has very little to do with stats. If it was all about number why is it that Kobe, Arenas, Kidd or Lebron don't have an MVP trophy????

Last years MVP, Dirk didn't have huge numbers, but he was the money man on the best team during the regular season. Numbers help, but a big factor is team record and improvement.

Mr Clutch,

Are you serious? Deron is better than CP3 and the only reason CP3 gets assists and LeBron scores is because of plays run for them. Don't think so.

The MVP is really IMO between CP3 and Kobe.

CP3 has taken his game to a whole new level this seasaon, he only needs to average a steal a game over the last games of the season to finish as the first player in NBA history to avergare 20ppg, 10+apg and 3stg while leading a team and giving a team belief in themselves.

Kobe has completely changed his game and mentality this season, he has gone from having no faith in his teammates. He is one of the main factors in the triangle working. Someone earlier said that it's only since the trade that Kobe has been winning, not true, Kobe was leading this team from the start and I have a feeling he will win it because it is "his turn".

I cannot pick a winner between Chris Paul, Kobe Bryant and Lebron James. All deserved winners IMO.

thanks for reeling of some stats to me bizzy. 3 steals how about the fact that he gambles to get those steals and gets punished on the block.

not saying that the only reason that lebron and cp3 are good because they have offenses run for them, just that they have more opportunities than deron or kobe to put up huge state.

never said anything about kobe not being mvp
