The prior costume looks more like "hannibal lector" than Murray the magpie

MC Hammer would be a great addition i think... everyone loves hammer time, plus he would be cheap to get surely, he has been out of work for ages

Jeez if you're going to go for MC Hammer, you may as well try for Mr. T. It's obvious that he's short of cashflow at the moment else he wouldn't be making snickers commercials.

they should loose the whole family friendly approach to the design, the best mascots are angry ones like the t'ville croc.

I've sent an email to the club to get in touch with Sugar Costumes. They do a lot of college ones in North America. not sure what the clubs budget is like for this though.

Any way we could steal a mascot from another club? eg the Tiger from Melbourne? I know us South Aussies aren't as good at stealing things like the Vics.

I have an ex-wife who would be perfect for South....

how do you attach pics to threads?
1. Use Google images to find pic, and go to that image.

2. Copy the link to the image from your browser.

3. Paste link into HTML Image tag, like this: <IMG SRC="paste link here"> Make sure you include the quote marks.

4. Faint with shock when you don't stuff up and it actually works.

At least, that's the method I use.

I can't tell if its still the magpie mascot the club wants to use or something completely different. Does anyone know where the idea of a magpie came from as the Adelaide 36ers has nothing in its name to depict an animal, bird or fish. I think an eagle would be more appropriate after its original name The Adelaide City Eagles when it joined the NBL in 1982. Then the mascot can go flapping its enormous wings all over the court and attack children in the audience.

Ever heard of the piping shrike EC, as in the bird that appears on the South Australian flag ?

Well, if I have to admit to my ignorance, I am aware of the Piping Shrike being part of the South Australian Emblem, but never thought of it as a magpie. Thought it was a separate species of bird. Thanks for your comments Shirley.

joshuapending: Reading the web site, I'd say just a redesign of the Magpie.

Bit of both. Same kind of character, but maybe with a design refresh.

The club surveyed fans and the responses regarding the mascot were very much in favour of a return of Murray AFAIK.
