Early ABL favorites and MVP to this point!

Who is looking as early favorites at this point? Personally the Flames seem to be dominating but have they peeked too early? Can they maintain such a high standard for the remainder of the year.

Also who is looking as the MVP so far? Burdon putting up solid numbers in the points category. Hoban dominating inside. Krouse the surprise to this point and Wilson playing well but struggling to get a win. Opinions!!!

Norwood will be tough as they have the fire burning from last years Grand Final defeat.

Still think Flames, Rockets, Eagles are the ones to beat... and barring any major injuries... dont think that will change.

Norwood have it this year. Webber is starting to get back in the groove and papendieck will be back soon to add to their depth. Krause, Thompson and Cooper are unstoppable inside. Their bench would start at most other clubs in the league.
Are North adding Dusty still?
The flames proved they are better than the eagles over the weekend. I really don't see any other team matching them this year.

Typical Norwood first round hype. Forestville and North GF for sure.

Rockets despite 2 early defeats seem to running over the top of any competition they come up against yet all the talk is of Forestville and Norwood. The boys from the launch pad would be loving the lack of attention they get. Although they come up against a full strength Sturt this weekend. Would be good to see that one.

peter hoban didn't do much against woodville, there must of been a defensive workhorse guarding him.

ELG - I think the same "workhorse" was guarding Kane Oakley most of the game too..

I doubt Cam Wilson will get the votes - on a losing team it is very hard to take the votes of the best players on the winning team

Lockstock...its not that hard when the umpires have peanuts for brains! How did Dix only win 2 Woolacotts?

Cam Wilson has averaged some good numbers but it is obvious he can't get the Woolocott in a sub par team. Hoban scoring and rebounding, Burdon making shots from anywhere, Matthews doing his thing and Krouse also shooting the lights out. The problem with the big three (Forestville, Norwood, and North) they are taking votes from one another. Breheney is also dominating in a losing team and should poll well.

Anybody have any ideas for an outsider sneaking in for the award?

Woodville aren't a losing team on current form. If they get Centrals this week they will be 5 and 4. If they can be 50% or better at the end of the season I think Wilson will win it.

Remember the Titans - if you look at the list of winners in other years Jason Dix was playing you'll probably understand.

As for ideas of players sneaking it in.. Justin Helleran from South?

Have a look back in history and you will see that every winner in the last 10 years bar one I think has come from a very successful club.
1998 C.Spady Riverland
1999 R.Sapwell Norwood
2000 S.Arnold Norwood
2001 J.Dix Forestville
2002 J.Dix Forestville
2003 J.Holmes Eastern
2004 J.Holmes Eastern
2005 O.Forman Sturt
2006 D.Ng Sturt
2007 D.Rychart North
I copied and pasted this so i'm not sure how it's going to look!
But you can see the last ten years...

1998-Riverland (Ordinary team but a standout player!)
1999-Norwood (Champions)
2000-Norwood (Were up there again)
2001-Forestville finished
2002-Forestville finished (Runners Up)
2003-Eastern (knocked out by Sturt in semi I think)
2004-Eastern finished 3rd (Champions)
2005-Sturt finished 2nd (Lost in Prelim)
2006-Sturt finished 1st (Runners Up)
2007-North finished 2nd (Champions)
