2nd round draft picks that should have gone higher

Hind sight is a wonderful thing and i looked through some of the names that went late in the draft that went on to much better things than their selection position.

1980- Rick Mahorn
1983- Doc Rivers
1986- Mark Price,Rodman, Hornaceck
1988- Steve Kerr, Vinny Del Negro
1989- Cliff Robinson
1990- Toni Kukoc
1993- Nick Van Excel
1996 - Malik Rose
1997- God Shamgod( not a player but they name alone!)
1998- Alston,Shard Lewis
1999- Ginobli
2000- Michael Redd, Eddie House
2001- Arenas, Okur
2002- Carlos Boozer
and that is where is stopped caring

2 things that stood out.

1 how many second round picks end up here playing all the way back to 1987, and 2 how many 2nd round picks end up being either head coaches or assistants

2000- Michael Redd - He's a scorer. He doesn't rebound or pass the ball. Frankly he should be grateful he got drafted at all.

Apparently ,and i don't believe this, but Redd got drafted because he was a good defender.

Kent that makes sense - the second point about how many became coaches whatnot... Most of the guys that get taken in the second round are not the naturally talented college superstar types. These guys generally had to work harder to get where they got as the game simply didnt come as easily to them as the superstar level type. So they naturally become good, patient teachers of the game cause they know how hard it can be...

Look at all of the current sucessful coaches (that were NBA players - Sloan, Rivers, Jackson, Scott (borderline as he was pretty damn good), Johnson, McMillan - there's a definite pattern here???

Redd did get drafter because of his defense, he worked on his offense, and that seems to be all he has cared about since

alot of the 2nd round picks mentioned we know are great players, but at the time they wouldn't have been seen as such, so you can't really say they should have been drafted earlier unless they had college or international seasons (which still don't get any real respect) before entering the draft.
