Wildcats make offer to Isiah Victor

The Perth Wildcats are looking to get Isiah Victor as their second import for 08/09. Having been burnt by unproven imports last season, Victor (ex-Kings) would and Darnell Hinson (ex-Razorbacks) would give them two known commodities.

Perth Wildcats chief executive Nick Marvin says the NBL club has tabled a three-year contract to former Kings import Isiah Victor and expects the American forward to sign within the next fortnight.

Victor has told the Cats he is keen to move west and Marvin believed securing his signature was now a mere formality.

Shaping as a very decent team. They were competitive last year despite having trouble with one import spot and the fairly average Gerald Brown in the other spot, so unless the new roster lacks chemistry, they should be up there with the Melbourne teams.

What's people's opinion offering 3 year contracts to American's??? It's a risky move i think as it's one of the most important positions on your team and usely is the gap filler. You use the import spot to fill what position your missing. Over three years things can rapidly change and I have to say, sometimes Americans can simply cruise knowing they are signed for 3 years instead of being on that 1 year deal.

Heh.

Look what happened when we signed Farley to 2+ option. His 2nd year stunk up the Dome, and we all had to put up with his turnaround fadeaway jump shots instead of proper open looks. Willie, we'll always love you for the 2002 championship, but mate leave the fadeaways for Brett Maher.

I think three years is probably a bit of a stretch unless maybe the third is a mutual option. To be honest, 1+1 might've been OK given that Victor showed promise but wasn't tested with big minutes in a heap of games.

He averaged 10 and 5 for the season.

Unless of course the 3 year deal offered was highly 'economical' for the Wildcats.

The Wildcats are turning into "Little America" it seems.

How many more do you want to pile into the team?

PG:Hinson/Robbins/Caporn
SG:Crawford/Weigh/Caporn
SF:Redhage/Dowdell/Weigh
PF:Loughton/Redhage/Dowdell
C:Rogers/Victor/Loughton

Thats the rotation as i see it. Look for Caporn to have a big year. he looks fit and is tearing up the SBL. this is gonna be he's year, or atleast touch wood it will be. . he's looking like he can finally live upto the he's immense potential!.

Starters
Hinson
Crawford
Redhage
Loughton
Rogers

bench
Robbins
Caporn
Dowdell
Weigh
Victor
Thats pretty deep. Ithink along with caporn, weigh will tear it up. he's being touted as a future boomer and has the ability to kill you from the primeter. he also has the ability to put the ball on the floor and create shots for himself. getting this guy was a bonafide coupe for the Cats.
