Under 18 nationals

Now that nationals have started, does any one want to take a guess if any of women or men, metro or country will make the institute this year.

Should be interesting

the country girls are winning but they are not playing the teams that count really yet. the games are average standard with not a lot of talent on both sides. Quite boring actually

It will be a murder when they play the Vics and NSW. They just dont have the talent, depth or team ethic to make an impact.

Dean will still love them though so who cares!!!!

You can only beat teams you play. How about saving the negativity til post-tourny. Cheers.

like the post said before. Who cares. look who they have beaten. Doesnt mean a lot. They can be cocky though. Doesnt matter where they come, or the fact that they have no talent they will still get looked after

Any time our kids can beat vic is good enough for me.

Well done boys.

Agreed with a poster above, girls can only beat who they play.

the boys are the real deal. The girls arnt. Just checked the site and look at the stats. It seems everyone wants to shoot. I think one person had 20 shots and no assists!!! What a hog. Well that should be interesting when they come up against decent opposition

20 shots and made 7 or 8 of them with no assists. Doesnt sound like there were many open spots. sounds like a hog to me.

SAC girls riddled with injuries, the coaching staff have done a great job getting them this far. Will be a hard test in the final two games against VM & NSWC.

Dont think its just injury. Theres not a lot of talent there. They just played the vics and got beaten by 54. They have been lucky so far but there are just too many wanna bes that want to do it all themselves, They just take shot after shot and they just dont have the talent to do it

Could be that SA U18 Girls is a team of shooters? traditionally SA teams dont have the same average height of other teams, meaning outside shooting more important.

Theory around that any team should be shooting 20 shots in a 1/4, 40 in a half.

where we stand

on the girls side,

SAC beat WAM by 2, WAM just beat NSWC, (by a dozen or so?) so if SAC can play true to form and beat NSWC they'll finish 2nd in their pool.
Lose, and there'll be a three way tie for 2nd, with SAC looking to slip to fourth in that pool based on percentage (all three teams would've beaten one another once!).

SAM can't make top 2 as VICC and QLDS both have an extra win and play each other, meaning the winner of that game will finish 2nd behind NSWM

on the boys side,

SAM are 4-0 having beaten VICM (2nd) and QLD sth (3rd), so unless there is a large upset at the hands of NSWC (4th) tomorrow at 9am, they'll top their pool, and play the 2nd team in the other pool (QldN if they lose by a little tomorrow to NSWM, or NSWM if QLDN can upset them tomorrow) for a spot in the Gold medal game.

SAC, as with the SAMW can't make top two (medal contention), and are only trying to improve their position from here on in.

Finals playoff

Now - according to PY finals format, Pool A 1 v Pool B 2, Pool A 2 v Pool B 1. To decide who'll play off for Gold & Bronze.

Then, Pool A 3 v Pool B 4, Pool A 4 v Pool B 3, etc for positions only.

Doesn't really matter much what happens in the other pool ... SAM and VICM are playing at a different level to NSWM and QLDM. Look forward to SAM and VICM rematch for the gold medal.
