Tigers still after Julius Hodge

http://www.gaze.com.au/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=1189&Itemid=2

The Melbourne Tigers have Julius Hodge pencilled in, requiring only two things to happen first, Hodge to miss out on an NBA contract and then for the former Adelaide 36'er to sign on the dotted line.

After impressing through the NBA summer league while playing with the New Jersey Nets in the Rocky Mountain Revue, dropping 20 points, 10 rebounds and 3 assists (19 minutes on court) in the Nets win over the Golden State Warriors, it is becoming more and more likely that Hodge will return to the NBA.

Hodge who previously played in the NBA through the 2005-06 and 2006-07 season, averaged 1.2ppg in 23 appearances, but missed a heavy portion of that time while recovering from a drive-by shooting, during his rookie season with the Denver Nuggets. Hodge was traded to Milwaukee Bucks in January 2007 and waived by the Bucks a month later.

Hodge who was nicknamed, "Da Jules of Harlem on His Way 2 Stardom," at Rucker Park in New York, is rumoured to be very close to signing an NBA contract with the Nets.

And if that goes ahead, the Melbourne Tigers have their eyes firmly set on Cedric Bozeman.

Bozeman who played his college hoops at UCLA, spent 23 games with the Atlanta Hawks in 2006-07, starting five games while averaging 1.1ppg.

25 years old and standing 6'6", Bozeman was playing with the L.A. Lakers in the summer league at Las Vegas.

Bozeman played last season in Poland with Energa Czarni Slupsk

Very misleading title! It doesn't mean he is going to Melbourne Tigers yet!

"The Melbourne Tigers have Julius Hodge pencilled in, requiring only two things to happen first, Hodge to miss out on an NBA contract and then for the former Adelaide 36'er to sign on the dotted line."

Its more than 2 things.
1. Miss out on a contract with the NBA
2. Sign on the dotted line - subject to 3,4,5,6.....

The Tigers may get Hodge in the end but if they are confident that they have him, they would already have a contract signed with an NBA outclause. Unless Hodge has done this with any team, then no one has him yet.

A couple of things. Firstly "Da Jules of Harlem on His Way 2 Stardom" is the longest nickname in the history of the world and sort of defeats the purpose of having one. Secondly, Cedric Bozeman must be feeling the love right now, before he even comes on board he's classified as sloppy seconds. Thirdly, exactly what is Hodge's agent playing at when there are 2 teams telling their fans they have his signature if he doesn't make the big league, for everyone's sake I hope he does.

The 36ers will also sign Lebron James providing he quits the NBA and signs on the dotted line.

It's all about the money people, for the return on the investment give me one reason why the 36ers will not match the Tigers offer. A ABSOLUTE BLOODY disgrace on the 36ers behalf, beyond a joke and trust me thats what this is all about.

If he does Sign with Melbourne, he'll want to be sick or injured when he has an away game in Adelaide. Considering the articles, phone calls and news interviews, he'll be a marked man.

Nothing worse than saying one thing and doing another, specially when it comes to the Sixers.

Whilst I have a real problem with tigers breaking salary cap and playing with points cap but ok to be critical of Tigers but least they are aggressive in creating a team and have a plan b again where is sixers plan b . if there was one surely someone should have a rumour at the least .
Although recruited well with all teams espec. Taipans and Melb. teams getting stronger we need to get our last import right.

Thats simple Kent, if you were offered eg.$100,000 more than someone else offered you for doing what you love to do, would you take it up?

anon there are more factors for Julius than money. If he wanted big money he would deal with Europe and its challenges.

He is not after big dollars comparatively
