ABL results

Anyone go to the games? I was at a dinner thing and missed North vs Sturt. Oscar had 25, 17 and 4 blocks (10/28 shooting, probably his personal record for FGA) as Sturt lost by 14. Hambour had about 19, and Sheppard with 11. Not sure about any other stats.

Eastern beat Woodville apparently.

Eastern vs Sturt today should be very interesting and will probably come down to defensive match-ups.

Great game, had a play off atmosphere and both teams proved they deserved their places in the top 2.

Brad Davis started red hot and scored 16 in the first quarter, simply came off the big bodies of Trebilcock and Holmes and shot his trademark 15 footers. York was a bit slow to make a change on him. Ng had the touch going also in the first half and looked like he would get 40, but he cramped up in the 3rd and didn't participate much after that. Bradley played well against tough defence from Holmes and Trebilcock. Woodville missed Claytoes defence (shoulder) which may have been able to contain Davis.

The second half was dominated by Jacob. He was unbelievable, even when York went to a box and 1 on him, he still made some crazy shots against Parker. He had that swagger going where you just knew his shots were going in. It was a memorable performance. The story of the game was Davis in the first half, Jacob in the second. A very entertaining last quarter which saw Eastern have a 3 point lead for almost the whole quarter.

Woodville had a chance down by 1 with 12 seconds left. After coming out of a time out Vandenbergh was stripped by Goodenough at the half court and Davis iced the free throws for a 3 point lead. The Warriors half court shot at the buzzer missed and Eastern had a great win.

Best for Eastern was Jacob and Davis by a mile (37 and 30 respectively). No. 7 (don't know his name) came on for some pump and played good "D". Goodenough and Warhurst ran the team well.

Best for Woodville was Ng, Bradley, Whitmore, and Lachlan Parker looked like a veteran late in the game with Ng struck down with cramp. I thought Woodville looked a little tired late in the game.

Didn't see any celebs but a big crowd was on hand, well done Mavs supporters.

Footnote: Previous forum had posts raving about Bungey. Didn't see anything you guys saw apart from a whingy kid who didn't like being called for fouls when he stepped out to the ball handler on screen-rolls. He was called 4 times for the same thing, and didn't take kindly to being told by Holmes how he could do it better. Sorry fellas, didn't impress me at all.

An excellent game that the crowd appreciated, both teams playing some very good basketball.

The Mavs run an NBA type offense- getting Davis & Holmes running off numerous picks, the Warriors defense just weren't up to it early. Cameron Wilson has had trouble guarding Davis in the past & again on Saturday he was getting lit up but was also getting little help from the on screen defenders. Davis is a sure thing from 15 ft at home. Reggie kept Holmes to a quiet 10 pts up to the half. Bradley totally dominated Holmes all game in the post, scoring easily & playing one of his best games, ably supported by Whitmore who played a very solid game.

2nd half & Holmes Weeties kicked in & he exploded with a 27 pt 2nd half. Hitting his first 4 shots to start the 3rd quarter -all fade aways under huge pressure from Reggie. York took Reggie off Holmes & Jacob kept scoring. Dr Ng didn't play at all in the 2nd half - cramps - he did a self-diagnosis & released himself after the game.

The last minute the score changed 3 times & Reggie who had 15, 9 & 9 misdribbled the ball into Joels arms which ultimately cost them, as Reggie looked to be set for an easy basket.

A note to all coaches, you must have a couple of last second inbound plays. Warriors didn't & their last shot from half court missed badly.

Overall, Eastern would be ecstatic with the win. Warriors missing Claytoe(all game) & Dr Ninja in the 2nd half didn't help. Eastern need to work on their interior defense if they want to take the title past the old Toll House.

POTW went to Jacob Holmes (64, 27 and 10 in splitting 2 games).

Anyone want to submit some notable mentions?

Mine:

Oscar Forman: 38 points and a pretty substantial 38 rebounds over 2 games (also split).

Brad Davis (49 in 2 games), although could be on the Not list for that buzzcut.

Eric Bradley: 34 and 16.

Paul Vandenbergh: 12, 8 and 8.

Ben Hodges (42 and 18 in 2 games).

Pero Vasiljevic (49 and 27, but 13 turnovers in 2 games).
