LBJ at PF?

I've thought of it in the past, now i've seen an article pulled from truehoop about it.

Look at the numbers, he has the same build as Carlos Boozer yet spends all his time 22ft away from the hoop.

Just because you can don't mean ya should.

Play him on a high post, run the offence through him ala C-Web in sac days. The pressure that would place on the defenders would be huge.

You could let him defend either the 3 or the 4 the other end, depending on the matchups.

thoughts?

Another absolutely stupid idea for many reasons.

Offensively
* He is not Jordan he has no back to the basket game!
* His weak point is his shooting, so turn around jump shots are going to be probably his worst shot.
* His strengths in offence are having space and driving towards the basket (which is a lot different from posting up and then driving)
* As he beats his man from the Perimeter it causes teams to collapse which leaves players open for 3 pointers or inside. If he drives from posting up it will be alot easier to contain him and the other players.
* He hits open 3's and scores from pull up jump shots from people trying to contain his penetration.
* You want to put him in a position he has never played before
* Where do Z and Ben Wallace go? Perhaps move them to point guard to totally confuse the other team? :P
* Did you ever see him play as a post up PF In the Olympics? Opponents would have loved that!

Defensively
* He has never played power forward before.
* He would struggle in size which would make him work harder and which would impact on his offence.
* He gets lots of perimeter steals which lead to fast break dunks which brings the crowd into it. You kill most of that!

The guy gets 30ppg, 8rpg, 7apg... Do you feel his not efficient enough playing his current position and think he could get better figures plus be more valuable being moved to power forward? :P ALso its Such a great idea suggesting the guy could be like Webber, im sure thats who he inspires to be :P

overatted, and one the most hyped player in the history of the nba (yes even more hyped than Jordan).

complains about his team mates and a weak support cast... when in fact, he actually has a VERY good supporting cast, in which basically his whole team mates can shoot.

also when Delonte West and Ben Wallace was traded to Cleveland... the media hype for that was ridiculous... even bigger than when AI went to Denver, Gasol went to Lakers, Artest to Houston, etc etc.

Backup your claims that he is over rated.

A creaky Ilgauskas,
A burnt-out Walllace,
A very streaky player in Gibson,
A 2 man playing point in West,

With Pavlovic, Sczerbiak and Varejao off the bench.

LBJ has carried this line-up to the play-offs year after year. Before wallace, Sczerbiak and West it was what, Larry Hughes and Drew Gooden?

The guy may be arrogant, confident, and rude at times, but he is not over rated.

And now he is also a proven playoff performer, something which McGrady isn't, something it took Garnett to team up with PP and Ray Allen to achieve.

The thing which sets Lebron apart from every other player in the world is he has the size of a pf but the skills, speed, and athleticism of a guard. Why would you eliminate this advantage he has over every other player in the world by playing him at PF?

FWIW... D'Antoni said that if they got LBJ at the Knicks in 2010 he would run him at the 4...

Although I don't believe in the idea, it must be noted that we are not talking about him playing as a prototypical 4 man but pretty much as a 4th wing player to pick up the tempo. This may work in international ball but it's been proven time and time again that you need big men on the floor to win in the NBA.
