Game 1 Performances

Thought the boys did very well tonight, but no doubt lots of people will have varying opinions on how everyone went:
Brett Maher - shot like a man possessed
Aaron Bruce - DoubleDouble - first of many to come
Jacob Holmes - Rebounded brilliantly
Mark Tyndale - DoubleDouble - first of many to come
Adam Ballinger - What? no double double? Played really well with 21 and 6 RB
Paora - showed some good hustle IMO
Brad Hill - gave away a blocking foul when a Croc pushed him - please explain??
Schensh - Was unlikely with some of his shots. Unguardable around the key
Coops - didn't get many stats, but did a lot of things that don't pit up stats
Brad - quiet by his standards, but considering the pre-season, still put in 110% on court
The Burd-man - silky as always - how can someone make shooting 3's look so easy?

Reckon they will only get better!

Umpiring was very ordinary. Highlight was when a Croc backed into the short one who fell over. I am sure if it was a Sixer, he would have called a charging foul.

" I am sure if it was a Sixer, he would have called a charging foul." lol great call.

The foul on Hill was one of many poor decisions by Captain Baldy. Should have been a charge.

Read the original thread for everyone else's game wraps btw.

What is Captain Baldy's name?

I have had green shirts at Port Adelaide umpire better than him.

Great Game,

Good solid performances from all IMO. Still to gel as a team, A few were'nt sure where to go in offensive sets.
In the second term did not seem to be able to set a few picks.
When we get our act together the rest better look out.
The umps are looking out of their league. How can you expect turkeys to soar like eagles?

Good first up effort from team. in 1st half defence was patchy allowing some easy shots . 2 nd half really lifted and everyone seemed to know what they had to do which was a pleasant change.
we seemed to sit off the 3 point shot a lot and poss.some teams could hurt us in that area.
all team now work hard on defence and if keep at the results will come.
Brett was back to his best and in 1st half shot the lights out (please dont retire) and left it to the new guys in 2 nd half . balls will still be our main scorer espec.when gets fully match fit and Bruce and Tyndale get used to feeding him.
Of new players like everyone else I was extremely impressed with Bruce. drives well, feeds and shoots well. Tyndale had way too many turnovers but got confidence at should be a good addition to team.
Schenser was a little soft in holding space on rebounds at times but when he and team gain more confidence will provide a real prescence. Bloody hell is he tall I am sure on 1 dunk he didnt get off the ground well not much anyway. Paora is a good team person and adds hustle from bench. Hill in limited time hads a litle zest and attacks basket well.
whilst not a huge Holmes fan he certainly can rebound .
May not keep starting role all year though.
What was most promising was that in our first game we used more set plays and system than we were at end of last few seasons. Good on you Scotty built a good team and coached with direction and enthusiasm.
Hope crowd builds up to enjoy what will be a great season
