Wildcats looking to sign Kendall

In response to a poor 1-2 road-trip that saw them drop games to Wollongong and Sydney, and injuries to Adam Caporn, Brad Robbins and Peter Crawford, the Perth Wildcats are looking at signing Luke Kendall.

Ross Lewis from TheWest.com.au has more: Cats in race for Kendall

The Melbourne Tigers and the South Dragons have also shown interest in Kendall.

With captain Paul Rogers on the de-activated list due to his long-term knee injury, Perth have enough room in their player points cap to fit Kendall on to the roster.
Fair enough, but surely the Tigers or Dragons could only have room if they cut a fairly major player?

Is it just me or have the Tigers looked at signing every single person who has touched a basketball in Australia.

Come on Isaac, the Tigers and Dragons play by their own rules remember?
You're slipping dude! *tsk*

Actually, don't know why I didn't think of this, but perhaps the Dragons were considering swapping him in for Darden and running with one import?

Darden plays SF and they already have that covered with Ingles, Worthington and Vukona.

JR seems to think that Kendall to the Cats is a done deal.

HAHA....In fairness, the Dragons have never done anything dodgy with regards to the points cap.

Shameless McCheat rules alone in that department.

Cheating is cheating Dicko - no matter whether is salary cap or points cap.

Dicko, that's possibly the case with the points cap maybe but as far as the salary cap is concerned they are both as bad as eachother.
Both teams are rumoured to have spent around $2million on their rosters this season, and some players either with, or without alcohol at the time, will be more than happy to gloat about it.
Cheating is cheating is cheating.

That's a real shame. I was hoping Kendall could be a possibility for Adelaide on 09-10 to replace Maher or Davidson.

Kendall and Bruce in the backcourt looks good to me!

Exactly how many teams do you think there are in the NBL UNDER the salary cap??????

I'm not saying it's right.....but I don't think pointing the finger at one or two is really reasonable.

And if you think the Dragons are spending ANYWHERE even close to the Tigers, you ARE mad.

We have 1 "big" cost player.....and 1 probably comfortably above the player "limit"........not 5.

The Tigers would have 4 guys paid higher than our highest paid.

So your Dragons are cheating, but only a little bit?

Kendall has a points rating of 9! (yes, more than Barlow)

Is he still able to appeal this or has that ship sailed?

Also, with the injuries that Isaac mentioned, look for Steve Weigh to step up and start challenging our Bruce for ROY honours.

Cats get there man. does this mean LK will play the 2 guard or will hinson switch two the 2 guard spot.

Hinson
Kendell
Redhage
loughton
Knight

bench

Caporn
Weigh
Crawford
Victor
Dowdell

Once rogerrs and robbins return it will probaly look like this

Hinson
Kendell
Redhage
Loughton
Knight

Bench

Robbins
Weigh
Caporn
Crawford
Victor
Rogers

Thats as good as the Tigers i think.

very tough to beat,

That first team would put the at 61pts + Weigh. So that would probably slip under the 68 cap. The second one, however, would put them at 74pts + Weigh, so sorry that's not happenin.

Someone tell me how the hell Darnell Hinson is a 9 after being one of the leagues top scorers last year while the dud imports Brown, Muursepp, Reyes and Alston all came in at 10pts.

Would also like to know how college stars Al Loughton(former boomer) and Matt Knight were snared at 3pts and a year later Luke Schenscher was a 10 pointer just because he warmed up the bench in a few NBA games.

It's gotta be the most unfair Cap system in sport. unfair on the players... not just the clubs. with the salary cap players can at least take a pay cut in order to keep their spot - with this, if you're a 10 and you're not good enough then you're out of a job.

Dunno how a Luke Kendall thread turned into a rant about the points cap... meh.

The whole points system has to many loopholes. it's flawed. but perth has found a loophole and has amassed probaly the best squad when rogers and robbins returns.

Hinson
Kendell
Redhage
Loughton
Knight

Bench

Robbins one of the best defensive players in the league

Crawford this guy is quality starter on most teams

Weigh probaly the best shooter in the league

Victor quality import who would start on most teams

Paul rogers still a top 4 or 5 center. still a defensive gem

Perths bench is probaly better then the sprit, goldcost and the hawks starting lineups.

Overall there the most talented team now in the league with kendell.

No, actually they haven't... because they can't have Rogers and Robbins return without cutting a few others.
Didn't you read my last post? That team would bring them to 74pts+Weigh. That's including loyalty discounts/pre-existing contracts etc. Good luck finding a loophole to get around that.

It's spelt KendAll.

"Weigh probaly the best shooter in the league"
L O freakin L

"Perths bench is probaly better then the sprit, goldcost and the hawks starting lineups."
No... just no.

When Rogers comes back Knight will have to be cut as he is currently replacing him.

Knight is signed for the whole year

Dowdell and tommy g will be cut once rogers and robbins return. caporn will probaly be cut to.
