Reds roar through to final

Great to see Adelaide United in the final - and everyone here in Japan have suddenly discovered a town called Adelaide !

Bought my tickets for the final at Hindmarsh this morning. Very tired after watching the game last night and getting up early to get in line for tickets.

Adelaide have made it to the final of the biggest club competition in Asia, and have qualified for the club world championship. If they win the final, a match with Man United in the club world championship looms.

Never in my life have I been so happy after losing a game. Hopefully the exposure makes United a very attractive place for potential players. Does anyone know if they have now automatically qualified for the next ACL campaign or do they have to win it? And if they do manage to win it, where would this team be ranked in terms of any sport in all time success throughout SA?

Basketball hasn't got a stadium it calls it's own for seniors or juniors. Adelaide's elite Basketball team is floundering in under performance, has an identity complex and doesn't know if it will or should exist next season.
If basketball was in any more of mess in this state it would be put down and by the time the much vaunted changes occur the problems will be terminal.
At a grass roots level the only basketball people happy are BSA employees.
How can a sporting organization that is involved in national competitions not have its own sporting facility or access to one when ever it needs it?
Soccer has a home, cricket has a home, netball has a home, footy has a home and the list goes on but basketball has a few tin sheds and the ocassional use of an inline skating venue.

#208484 - basketball has a few issues nationally which aren't BSA's (or BASA's) fault! Many sporting facilities around the world are used for more than one purpose, the Dome is far from being unique.

Hindmarsh stadium has long been regarded as a white elephant, with poor access and not enough parking if the Entertainment Centre is in use. As a playing venue, the Dome is far better for Basketball than Hindmarsh is for Soccer.

The Dome is OK as a junior venue & it's great for every kid to play on court 2. Once. The novelty wears a bit thin after that.

Basketball doesn't need a place to call its own, it needs more courts available when required. If the inline skaters help pay for the basketball courts, wave them in. Just keep an eye on what sort of tape they are using on the floor.

I must disagree, Hindmarsh is agreat soccer stadium, just with a lack of transport and seating. Too bad only 18k will get to be at the final as no stadium in adelaide is suitable with the required seating. Got mmy ticket already.

Really hope to see a great crowd sunday vs perth, be disappointed if there isn't with the exposure we are getting along with good weather over the weekend

TC, as far as I know, the AFC changed the rules with the Champions League for qualification. The winner does not automatically qualify anymore. It sucks, but we're just going to have to accept it.

208523,

As Japan is hosting the touny they automatically have a team qualified. As Gamba Osaka finished highest in the ACL they qualify. Now if Osaka beat the reds the qualify for the tournament as the ACL winner. Therefore AU take the spot of the Japanese automatic qualifier.

Basically each is ranked, Oceana being the lowest and Euro and South America being the highest, These teams go straight to the semi final, Asia, Africa and North America go straight to the quaters and Oceana plays an initial game against the Japanese auto qualifier, which would be AU if they lose.

Ironically if AU lose the ACL final but win against the Oceana winners they then go and play Osaka again in the Quarters, if they win that they will play Manchester United

hope that wasn't to confusing :-)
