Ere wins Player of the Week

No surprise here. Ebi Ere has won POTW after a 3-0 round leading the Tigers.

Melbourne Tigers' mercurial guard Ebi Ere has taken out the National Basketball League (NBL) Player of the Week award for Round 18 after leading his team to three straight victories.

The Tigers faced a gruelling schedule for Round 18, opening the week on Wednesday at home against the Sydney Spirit before visiting the Gold Coast Blaze on Friday and then backing up immediately to face the Wollongong Hawks on the road on Saturday.

Despite the tough travel schedule, the Tigers still managed to win all games, subduing the Spirit 99-79, dousing the Blaze 116-107 and clipping the Hawks' wings, 108-94.

For the week Ere averaged 28.3 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 2.7 assists, shooting the ball at a cracking 55% from the field. He was also perfect from the free throw line, making 8-of-8 attempts.
His games were against 3 of the bottom 4 teams, but not sure he had much competition this week.

Honourable mentions:
Other contenders for the Player of the Week included Shawn Redhage (Perth), Kirk Penney (New Zealand), Cameron Tragardh (Wollongong), Luke Whitehead (Gold Coast), Darnell Mee (Cairns), Peter Crawford (Perth), Rick Rickert (New Zealand), Darnell Hinson (Perth), Corey Williams (Townsville), Kavossy Franklin (Wollongong), David Barlow (Melbourne), Shane Heal (Gold Coast), James Harvey (Gold Coast), Justin Bowen (Gold Coast), Adam Ballinger (Sydney), Chris Anstey (Melbourne), Rosell Ellis (Townsville) and Ian Crosswhite (Cairns).

You can no longer just beat teams. You apparently need to slay the Dragons, break the Breakers, tame the Tigers, maul the Crocodiles, cage the Wildcats, shatter the Spirit, charm the Taipans, clip the Hawk's wings and put out the Blaze.

What the hell do you do to the Sixers? Unfound their Province?
